Gloucester County will again use tiny mosquito-larvae eating fish as part of its effort to control mosquitoes for the warm months ahead.

Freeholder-Director Stephen M. Sweeney and Freeholder Frank J. DiMarco said that the county's Department of Parks Mosquito Control Division are stocking resident fish in retention basins throughout the county this week.

The fish are a natural means of controlling mosquitoes and are supplied by the NJ State Mosquito Control Commission as part of the State Bio-Control Program.

More than 14,850 fish will be stocked in county retention basins.

I note that the article forgets to mention which species (there's several fish species good-to-excellent for the purpose) is being used.

(oh, I see--they're trying not to give fuel to some who may facetiously claim "invasive species" issue  )

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

We used to be able to get them here in Central Jersey from either the Hunterdon County mossie control dept or the township. And yep, if memory serves someone did bring up the whole "but is it a native species" thing. Oh and there was letter to the editor [i think] about it was quasi-abusive to say the fish could be placed in bird baths - between evaporation or the birds appetite the fish may die.

Yet another flurry of local politics that left me scratching my head.
