Hi to All!!!

Im a fiancee of a US Navy. He is station now in Japan. Im applying for K1 Visa. We are planning to get marry in USA then go to Japan. Do u think the Consular Officer will deny my application because after getting married(K1 visa) in the USA, ill go to Japan? Our plan after the wedding, we will have the Adjustment of Status. He might leave me in the USA while waiting for AOS. Is there any same case here that they left USA before AOS? Im confused and nervous now. I hope the Consul Office wont take this against me.

The Consular officer will not hold your plans to join your husband in his deployment abroad against you for the issuing of the visa. However, you must have Advanced Parole before leaving the USA. Otherwise you won't be allowed to return. You can be granted emergency Advanced Parole at a local USCIS office once you have your marriage certificate.

You'll want to have your husband check with his military command on how you can accomplish the status adjustment. Normally that requires you both attend an interview at a local USCIS office. I don't know if that can be done in Japan or not.

The CO does not care what you will do after the visa is issued as long as you meet the terms and conditions of the visa... moving to Japan (or any other location) with your husband is not a problem

YMMV

I know a girl who's fiance was granted a K-1 visa. They married and he left a few weeks later. They are now in the process of applying for a CR-1 so he can come back.....looking at, at least another 9 months of waiting and more fees. It's a big mess.

Don't leave the US until you receive AP or AOS. It will cause you major problems down the road if you do....you will virtually have to start over again in the visa process.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
