It's not a big deal in the scheme of things -- the war on Iraq, a major economic crisis -- indeed, it's miniscule. Hardly worth mentioning.

Come on, you're going to try and have us believe that a credible professional journalist, with a staff of editors and proofreaders, would publish that blatant misspelling of minuscule?

Though I suppose the misspelling is not such a big deal in the scheme of things. Hardly worth mentioning.

Good eye! It's a controversial alternate spelling, but not considered incorrect in any modern dictionary. I'd prefer to use minuscule, but the other one is not technically a misspelling.

eta: I looked at the news source and it's a blog. Most media companies who maintain blogs don't copy edit them. They seem to think it's "fresh" and "immediate" that way. I don't see how 30 minutes makes a difference (unless they're live blogging) but I'm biased. :)

Oh, he smokes????????????????

I LOVE THIS MAN.

you sound just like my friend morgan! she said the reason she is voting for him is because he smokes

I can't vote yet; maybe that's why I am having so much fun with all the BS going on on VJ about the election.

But a smoker is cool --- since so am I ;)

Next he will say he does not inhale.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

The fact that he struggles with giving up smoking makes him more human in my eyes. I've seen how hard it is (my Mum, my husband) and it is HARD, especially when you're in the public eye like Obama is. I have seen how not being to give up affects people, they feel like they've failed and it gets them down. Not wanting to admit you're finding it hard is a VERY human failing.

Basically, I don't care if he smokes, it wouldn't affect how he would potentially run the country.

Exactly. So don't.

Is that the best camp Hillary can produce these days? How pathetic.

Um, check the source, it's not HC.

Um, you're peddling the story. You're camp Hillary. ;)

I do not speak for her. Never claimed to, either.

We all know better here on VJ.

He said he'd fallen off the wagon a few times. If you've ever tried to give up an addiction you'll know how hard it is. I hardly think this means he doesn't care about healthcare.

And as I said, others may not see it that way.

And he is off the wagon now.

I quit myself after 20 years & never fell off the wagon. :P

Yeah but you better believe that you were never were under even remotely comparable stress while quitting. Having quit almost 3 years ago after being hooked on cigs for 20+ years myself, I can see how one can give in to the urge when there are things much greater to focus on than leaving that damn cigarette alone. Empathy, I suppose, is not one of your strong attributes. ;)

What's the reasoning here - falling off the tobacco wagon makes BO dishonest or having poor personal willpower and hence "unsuitable to lead the nation".

A person would have to be cracked in the head to fall for reasoning like that!

Nope, just demonstrates weak character and a propensity to not follow through once having taken on a difficult task........Simply doesn't have the "right stuff" to lead....
