Sisters

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day,

drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As

they talked about life, about marriage, about the

responsibilities of life and the obligations of

adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her

glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance

upon her daughter

'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling

the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll

be more important as you get older. No matter how

much you love your husband, no matter how much you

love the children you may have, you are still going

to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now

and then; do things with them.'

'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women...

your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other

women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women

always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman

thought. Haven't I just gotten married?

Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a

married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely

my husband and the family we may start will be all I

need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact

with her Sisters and made more women friends each

year. As the years tumbled by, one after another,

she gradually came to understand that her Mom really

knew what she was talking about. As time and nature

work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman,

Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world,

here is what I've learned:

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how

many miles are

between you. A girl friend is never farther away

than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you

have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life

will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,

praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on

your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the

valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk

beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,

daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,

Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended

family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and

neither would I. When we began this adventure called

womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or

sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we

would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

VJ- the information about the immigration process is fantastic. The wealth of knowledge and experience on this board couldn't be better.

As for the other stuff- I have been around long enough to know who likes to cause sh#t and those who are full of sh#t. I also know the fun people I can joke around with and the people who have the most amazing, caring hearts.

During this time, this absolutely unique experience that is not like any other. One that is not understood by usual friends, or always supported by family. When the embassy cannot e-mail us the assurance that something is happenning, when DOS cannot give us knowledge about our own case, this is where we come. This is the place that gave us a smile on days when we had no hope, and this is the place that we will never forget. The people here, I believe God placed us together for a reason, and that is to realize this world is not as separated as we think, that we are actually connected in many more ways than we know.

This is also the place that shows us every path does not end perfectly, not every relationship is meant to be and gives us a place to go, where thousands of others face the same fears, situation and anticipation. It is a place where we get prayers from invisible souls.

Finally, its a place I/we will keep in my/our heart forever, long after our SOs have learned all the tricks and trades of the US and have long gained experience from this place and genuine love from us.

VJ is a place where people who you never met, have come to touch you more profoundly than you ever imagined.

VJ is a great source of information during the visa process. I found it when my ex and I decided to file the I-129 F. What I really liked about the forum is that you post a question and you really get a friendly reply, almost instantly. Very cool.

I found cool friends on here, people that I pm/e-mail with, with a few people I also spoke on the phone. Since I am not involed in any kind of visa process at the moment, VJ is just a place for me to hang out and chat. OT has changed compared to what it used to be four years ago, but it's still fun. The crowd is different (does anyone still remember Jaffa, UncaRastus, Gemmacat, Sassycat and BoPeep&G? LOL), but still fun and great entertainment.

And I still love reading all those love stories and still get happy for every single couple, when their visa finally gets approved and they finally see each other again. :luv:

Unca and Jaffa both totally cracked me up. I hope they are fine now.

Wahrania, underneath all those rantings and tirades you have a heart of gold, dont you?

:P

thanks for starting a sweet thread.

VJ MENA means I can come here and read awesome threads like this! I also find people here that give support in ways that the outside normal operating world could not provide me in this unique situation we're going through. :star: Edited by Olivia*
