Last night I meant to grill some fish and have it for dinner but I was so sick I didn't do it and now I need to cook the fish so I thought I would make some fish tacos. I've never made them before so for whoever has what do you put on the fish before you grill it? what are some of your favorite toppings for them?

I have never made them myself. I have had them at Chevy's a few times on Fridays during Lent and I LOVE them.

My husband would probably go to the International Grocery Store and get Jamaican fish seasoning.

I've had them at home with the typical lettuce and tomato, onions, and fresh cilantro with lemon... delicious!

You can also add a small amount of orange to make them sweet and to bring in the lemon... but you'll have to add salt to balance the citrus with the fish and veggies.

Enjoy!

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I'm sorry spoil the fun, but I'm mexican and there are not such thing called "Fish Tacos" across the border. With across the border, I mean the real Mexico not the border towns like TJ, Juarez, Laredo etc etc, which try to attract tourists with the "traditional" tequila, corona, mariachi, sombrero, tacos and the three amigos.

This mentioned, dont worry! if you like them and are delicious we are IN, dinner invitations welcomed... ^_^

lime, cilantro, fresh jalapeno peppers, red onion....a little tomato and sour cream (you could always mix them together for a sauce)

I'd grill the fish or bake it with nothing much. Just maybe some cilantro...chili powder.

The combo of all those flavors above is enough with the fish I think.

Yum. We like making fish tacos.

When we've had fish tacos we usually just grill the fish with some olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper. Then garnish them with cilantro, lime, onions, and Valentina. Man they are good.

Not sure about the whole they don't have fish tacos in Mexico considering Javi is Mexican, from Puebla(which isn't anywhere near the border) and he's the one that introduced me to them. I'd never heard of fish tacos before he made them for me.

Oh yeah, def use corn tortillas instead of flour.

OMG I have the best fish taco recipe, they are extremely famous in san diego, everyone loves it ...Drool

let the sauce marinade and serve with pico de gallo

INGREDIENTS

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1 cup beer

1/2 cup plain yogurt

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 lime, juiced

1 jalapeno pepper, minced

1 teaspoon minced capers

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed

1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

1 quart oil for frying

1 pound cod fillets, cut into 2 to 3 ounce portions

1 (12 ounce) package corn tortillas

1/2 medium head cabbage, finely shredded

DIRECTIONS

To make beer batter: In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Blend egg and beer, then quickly stir into the flour mixture (don't worry about a few lumps).

To make white sauce: In a medium bowl, mix together yogurt and mayonnaise. Gradually stir in fresh lime juice until consistency is slightly runny. Season with jalapeno, capers, oregano, cumin, dill, and cayenne.

Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Dust fish pieces lightly with flour. Dip into beer batter, and fry until crisp and golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Lightly fry tortillas; not too crisp. To serve, place fried fish in a tortilla, and top with shredded cabbage, and white sauce.

enjoy :P
