Hi,

I received my NOA-2 for my I-129F today & it mentioned that it was approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. But, nowhere on the NOA does it list the consulate that I selected when filling out the I-129F. I thought it was usually listed below the Valid from xx to xx field? Has this happened to anyone before? Is this an oversight or do they just not list the consulate anymore?

Thanks

Not sure if this is correct- but I believe someone posted this question a few days ago and the reply was that they will forward the petition to the consulate you listed on the I-129F. I think it's safe to assume they will forward it to the consulate you requested unless they tell you otherwise. I think... Am I right?

They will send it to the correct consulate, don't worry. I had put Toronto on the i-129f (didn't know then that they don't do k-1 interviews there) and mine is on its way to Montreal right now!

No worries. I have heard that NVC usually sends a letter to the petitioner and I'm not positive (don't have it yet) but I'd think that letter says what consulate they sent it to. Otherwise you can call NVC to ask.

Most countries only have 1 consulate that handle immigrant visas, so NVC will send the petition to the correct consulate for you.

You can always call NVC a few weeks after getting the NOA 2 letter and confirm this.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Just to make sure you are talking about the form I think you are talking about: do you mean the I-797 "Notice of Action" from VSC or CSC? VJ calls it NOA2; USCIS only calls it "Notice of Action." The NOA2 that you get from USCIS will not list the consulate. USCIS sends it to the National Visa Center, which then sends it to the consulate a few days later. You should get a letter soon from the NVC telling you that it has been sent to whatever consulate you are going through. It will even give you the address of the consulate. If you are talking about the letter from NVC, then I'd suggest calling them, because the consulate should be named there. If you are talking about the NOA2 from USCIS, don't sweat it; the NVC letter will list your consulate.

Thanks for the responses. SonoranSongbird, I mean the 'I-797' Notice of Action from VSC (2nd letter from VSC. First is notice of recipt for I-129F). I have not received anything yet from NVC, as it is still too early to hear from them. But if NVC is the one that lists the consulate & their address, then i'm ok.

You might want to check one of the USCIS to NVC threads on the K1 progress reports branch. There is one started by Igor & Elina for August-Septmeber filers and another started by Applewow for October-November filers. Both have comments and instructions about how to reach NVC if you want to check on the status of your petition. It moves pretty fast once it gets there.

Ok thanks....Quick question, does the NVC send a letter to the petitioner that the package is on the way to the consulate? Or do we have to call and make sure that they have received it from VSC and then just wait to hear that the consulate received the package from the other end?

Don't worry, all NOA2's have the same wording. They will know where to send it.

Yes, NVC send the petitioner a letter. But when I received the letter my package had arrived in th embassy the same day. Remember, mail takes up to a week. Call NVC, speak to a live person (option #1 then #5), and they will tell you if (when) they received it, give your NVC case #, and tell you when it left (if already shipped).
