Ok, so my husband and I just got married back at the end of Feb. We just got our actual marriage certificate in the mail this week so now we are looking into doing AOS. My questions are... With AOS don't you automatically get a green card? So you only have to file EAD if you want to work while you are waiting for the AOS? If that's the case is it even worth filing the EAD because doesn't it normally take just as long to process, and why spend the extra $340? Another question I had that I didn't really think of at the time... Wedding pictures? We were married by the mayor of the city. We are planning on having a big wedding later with family and friends in Sept. We wanted to remember that day, not the mayor because we only had a certain amount of time to legally get married day lol. So we didn't take any pictures. Actually... I refused to have pictures taken because I wanted to remember the "big day." Is that a really bad thing? I can get letters from my parents stating they were the witnesses and they were there, plus we have a thing that has the vows we said to each other and our pretty version (novelty) of the marriage certificate in it signed by the mayor.

That's all i can think of for now, but i'm sure at some point i'll end up with more questions :)

AOs fees now include the EAD fee, so when you pay the $1010, you are paying for EAD and AP...Why not take it since you have to pay for it!

We didn't take any pictures either, my husband was recovering from surgery and had lost 70 lbs, I was 7 months pregnant and looked like a beached whale, so tough luck if they want photos!

EAD is included in the AOS pricing as well as AP

We provided no bonafides with our I-485 application other than the marriage certificate

YMMV

AOS does not automatically give you a green-card, you may get interviewed, and in rare cases they can deny the AOS.

EAD costs nothing if you file the I-765 with or after filing I-485. The $1010 fee for AOS also covers EAD and AP (I-131), you nay want to read the directions included with the forms.

Wedding pics and letters form parents not required in the AOS package, only need a photo copy of the official government issued marriage cert. Have your read the guides yet?
