Then you have the kind who is willing to work the jobs a white person refuse to take the low paying jobs like picking grapes working fields etc. Doesnt matter kick them the fax back to Mexico lol.

Will McCain or Obama if elected push for this? After jumping thru all the hoops and paying hard earned cash to get your SO in the US LEGALLY.

I don't think the immigration issue will be resolved no matter who wins the White House.

Why? Most other first world countries seem to have their policies and procedures down pat. There are too many politicians here concerned about their position than doing what is in the best interest of the nation and for its people. I feel the government has really let down the people here with regards to illegal immigration. While the Mexican government is laughing all the way to the bank, literally.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

We're being overrun by strange looking, taco and burrito eating foreigners speaking in strange tongues!

Lou Dobbs for President!

Give me a break. No one gives a #### about what they look like or what they eat. The fact is that the majority of illegal immigrants are from Mexico.

Lots of taco and burrito bending trucks in my town some serve good food. Is it the illegal browns causing the spike in oil prices and the foreclosures?

nope it won't. bush already tried to give them all amnesty & it was blocked by congress....the true voice of the people on the issue, not the voice of big business

Who says big business wants to legalize them? It's a lot easier to cut costs if the employees can't complain.

Really? It doesn't matter whether they are hard-working people or drug smugglers?

I can totally understand coming in illegally in some cases to where it's hard to blame the people, but I think there's probably a lot more cases where they come in illegally just because it's easier/cheaper/faster and that really sucks. I mean yeh, it might be a big hardship on some people to have to raise that money but...yeh, that's life, it sucks, but it's your responsibility. But I don't know, out of all the people who apply, how many are turned down? I'm used to looking at this from the fiance POV where we almost all get in.

Something I really hate is that it seems like the Mexican president spends a friggin LOT of time talking about OUR immigration policy and one of his major tiers will always be how he'll work to get more people allowed into the US, stuff like that. It's just depressing and I don't really get it. I don't want to be ignorant and simplistic or anything, but I don't understand really what the...problem is. Mexico/Central America/South America are NOT barren really unluckily places to live as far as nature goes, like the Middle East (bits without oil) would be. I mean natural resources should be plenty, the workforce seems fine...the big problem is just crime, right? I don't understand why efforts aren't focused on self-improvement instead of 'omg we have to get out of here'. It just seems like these places are all ones that, with responsible help, could get on its OWN feet instead of trying to run away :( I imagine we've probably managed to exploit the heck out of them in some terrible ways, but it just seems unreal that our huge governments can't just like...work it out where their lives will significantly improve and they won't need/want to come here so much.

I really don't worry about the "They're stealing our jobs!" thing. I think a capitalist system that works properly would create plenty of jobs (not saying ours is working properly) and really the problem would be with people hiring illegals to get out of having to pay as much and benefits, which isn't the illegals' fault. Once again evil corporate bastards deal. But the number of houses and communities I've been through in my work over the past few years, there are TONS of fat lazy people sitting around their houses on welfare/unemployment/disability/some sort of support when they probably don't have any right to be, could find a way not to be, or needed it eight years ago and just kept getting to be on it; and most of these people I saw where white true-blue Americans or whatever, so I really don't think the stereotypes hold up.

I don't want them getting amnesty though, that does suck. But it's crazy that a lot of people will risk their lives and steal under planes or try to cross from Cuba or god knows what else just to get here. I wonder if the US even looks like 'the promised land' anymore; to me it's been looking pretty bleak lately :(

No but wages are suppressed due to excessive supply, aka too many workers available for hire. American workers have to compete with 10,000,000+ people for work. This has lead to lower wages and lower a chance of getting a job. Consequently homes are foreclosed as people cannot afford to pay for them. On top of that, the country is facing tough competition from China, India and many other countries around the world.

You know, I really hate the illegal mexicans. It's not because they're here illegally, it's just because they have an easier way of getting here.

The people in indo-China have a much more difficult time getting here. I'm very jealous! They need to cross a massive amount of water to get here. They don't have the luxuries like the Mexican do with the landmass borders. It's entirely unfair!

That is very true when you think about it. For example, Australia's unemployment rate fell to 4.2%, the lowest in 33 years. On top of that the average wage there is now $52,000 USD. Someone unemployed in AUS actually earns more than someone on the minimum wage working 40 hours a week here.

Unfortunately I am stuck in this US while I go through the final stages of the Visa process. I do not want to go back and have to go through it again.

Pretend, for a moment, that you are holding a camera (video).

Now, zoom out so that you can see your city.

Zoom out furthar...see your country.

Zoom out all the way to get a vantage point from outer space.

See our beautiful blue and green planet with some clouds hovering here and there?

Now ask yourself:

Is there really such a thing as an "illegal" human being?

I agree all they have to do is cross the fence and people like us who had to pay high redicklous fees and wait for almost a year for our lives to be approved to come over not fair.

they may not want them legalized for that exact reason. but, they're more than happy to see that the immigration laws of this country only apply to those forced to follow them. (people that can't just walk across the border & start crying victim...gimme gimme gimme)
