Israel needs to quit screwing around and just conquer what's left of Palestine, then it can all be called Israel.

I know what your saying, Bro. And I'm all right with that. They could have a homeland now if they would just quit attacking.

I think Jordan should kick in some land too. So they would have Gaza and the West Bank and some more space next to Jordan there to call their own.

But Palestinians won't accept peace no matter what, so the only other option is for Israel subdue them.

No doubt.

There are apparently no individuals in Palestine capable of being distinguished outside of the governing body.

yes, i make the same sweeping condemnations when i read about whatever disgusting garbage the chinese government is up to this week. chinese citizens=chinese government...they're all the same, right?.

Seems like "Death to Terrorists" would be presumptuous when Death To Everyone appears to be the policy of response.

That's what it seems to be. Their military operation killed children too. UN Chief Ban Ki Moon has comdemned firing rockets into Israel from Gaza and disproportionate Israeli military action. Now some would say, who cares what UN Chief says? But he is right. I emphasize those idiots should stop firing rockets into Israel. Seriously, this cycle won't bring peace to anyone and I am afraid it will continue. The peace talk is nothing but talk, as it is not bearing any fruits.

That does seem to be about the size of it.

Still picking a side appears to be fashionable - I wonder how much of that has to do with genuine empathy towards the civilian population. Its easy to have judgemental attitudes when you have a direct investment in the situation - but for folks outside of that situation.... I wonder what their excuse is.

even those personally invested and involved in the situation, like idf sharpshooters, are wracked with conflict over their position, their role in it. this is old, but still good. George Orwell and Amira Hass: Insights into IDF. cognitive dissonance is a b1tch.

Just imagine bunch of terrorists near the USA border firing homemade rockets into our towns.

How long time will take until we go there and wipe them out?

That might be fine if there was a city where only terrorists lived, marked as such on a map - and all of the inhabitants wore little badges telling you what they are.

The reality is you not only want to "wipe out" Mr Terrorist, but also Mr Innocent Shopkeeper, his wife, children, parents and neighbors.

The Palestine people voted for these terrorists. That makes them at least partially responsible for what they do. If they don't like the results they got then they need to throw the bums out.

Perhaps - but we are talking about a part of the world that hardly sets a high standard in terms of its democratic process; not to mention that there were people who didn't vote for them - but are caught in between.

Of course, reactionism isn't really anything new. You have two polarised sides getting further and further apart, and further away from any rational dialog. Its no surprise that it gets reflected in the politics. One side elects a suspected war criminal to President, the other side elects an extremist group.

The problem is, I think, that people aren't seeing the forest for the trees - given that whenever you discuss these things, what some folks are most concerned (specifically in the paragraph above) is the order in which you reference the various sides.

My guess is if they stop with the rockets and bombs then Israel will stop with the attacks. Maybe even they could sit down and work out something that works for all. But as long as the attacks continue I doubt that Israel will do anything but continue what they are doing now. It seems to me that is what the terrorists really want, continued violence. It is what keeps them in power.

As it stands - it seems there is little incentive for either side to do anything. Noone over there seems willing to listen to reason.

Yes, I agree.

And Risto to you, USA is not occupying anyone's land near US border, there is no UN resolution against USA to give up occupation, to stop illegal settlement. Why don't you imagine yourself living in the refugee camp, because you and your anscestors were kicked out by the occupiers?

It is true Palestinians elected Hamas, but Israel also elected Begin, Shamir (both have committed terrorist act under Irgun), and Sharon (responsible for Shabra and Shatila massacre). So both sides reached out to terrorist. The current problem is, no one wants to listen to anyone and at this cycle, neither side will achieve anything. Unfortunately, Israel's military might is not enough to bring peace, it can keep pounding the Palestinian areas, but it won't stop the cycle of violence. I really wish that those idiots stop firing rockets into Israel.

I want to add the following from the Haaretz. Recently, in the BBC world News, the commentators also said there is no alternative but talk. Now the comment from The Daily Haaretz.

"The daily Haaretz, for example, called for talks with the militant group in an editorial published Tuesday.

"Power has limitations. The Israel Defense Forces cannot solve everything," it said. "So there is no escape but to talk to Hamas. We cannot choose our enemies. We embraced Yasser Arafat after saying for dozens of years (in the words of Yitzhak Rabin) that 'We'll meet the PLO only on the battlefield.'"

Maybe it is about time for Mr. Innocent Shopkeeper to put pressure on Mr. Terrorist to quit launching those damn rockets. But they do not do that. Instead they elect Mr. Terrorist into office.

So you reap what you sow.

Israel wants peace, but they will not sign a suicide pact.

The Jews don't go around calling the Palestinians dogs and pigs. Or that they will not rest until they are driven into the sea. That is what the Palestinians warp the minds of their children with. Which means anyone that believes this rubbish will end up being killed in the end.

Peace will come eventually, But let's achieve it through life, not death!
