Thanks for the link but I can't see paying for a book when everything you need to know about the immigration process is right here at VJ :) and it's free! :o:D

I don't see where the book is free.... hmm, maybe I missed that part.

I bought this book before I found VJ. It was very useful for an overview if you didn't know which route you were going - I wasn't married when I bought it... also, it is a good introduction to all the options, the terminology, such as petition vs. visa, an explanation of the flow of the process and which forms needed when ...

Be warned, though - there are numerous mistakes and contradictions between what they tell you to fill out in a form and the examples they show (I am going to write the publisher and offer my editing services!) And the 2007 edition is already WAY out of date. Thank you, VJ for keeping everything current!!

Anyway, this preview section in that link includes a lot. For example, I just noticed the list of the reasons that 80 percent of I-864s are rejected on the first round; very useful! So someone could use the book's information for some general background, maybe?

Anyone already reading this site though, probably doesn't need to buy the book...

Can you give some examples of tips you found in the book that you haven't found here? They might very well be helpful.

I'd stay away from it then. The great thing about VJ is that when there is misinformation given out, another member will inevitably correct it, and usually within minutes. You can't get this from a book, and it could be very costly in terms of time or even money if you fill out the wrong forms, or fill in the right forms incorrectly.

For that matter, if the guides were the only information available on VJ, it would still be far superior than anything else I've come across. The forums are a bonus.

For example, how to read the poverty guidelines.. I'm not sure if that exact answer is around here though. It could be.. other simple tips about getting organized, how to print the forms, etc, etc, it might sound stupid not to know how to do that, but when you are starting the process every little thing becomes important.

I guess it all depends on how you like to handle things and get information from, I personally, prefered reading from a book and reading subjects in a specific order. Search all the options and having a complete overview before starting the process (that is exactly what we did, later we found VJ). To others, it could be easier to search through posts or just post questions (that is certanly a lot easier than reading a book). But I did find the reading very useful it gave me a very complete understanding of how the whole immigration process works. Not that VJ has not been very useful as well to us and to many others around here.

BulgarianBride, if you don't mind sharing with me all those mistakes you found on the book maybe you can PM me. I'd be very intersted to see it too. We did everything according to the book, and we did just perfectly! We got approved in 120 days with no problems at all.
