I think I would move to another neighborhood. ;)

But seriously...it used to be that way in Texas too and the state passed a bunch of laws pertaining to narcotic paraphenalia. There are still "smoke shops" around here, but I don't know how they get around the laws. There must be a loophole in regards to tobacco paraphenalia (which conveniently can be used to smoke marijuana).

Back in the 1970's a person in Texas could not buy rolling papers unless they showed ID and the sale was recorded in a book. Yikes! Druggies got around that by buying Bugler or Top roll your own tobacco. They threw away the tobacco and used the rolling papers that came with it to roll their reefers.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

I never understood that either! There's a store here called Treasures & Pleasures that sells that kinda stuff and lots of other crazy shiz too. Only been there once. They're all about making clothes from hemp and stuff. Some of the stuff is neat looking though.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Yeah, because all of that stuff can also be used to smoke tobacco. Here in MA, you need an ID to buy rolling papers still, but they don't record it. I know several people who roll their own cigarettes.

We call them head shops here....

They're a great place to look for t-shirts. They also have a great selection of incense, usually. There is one in New Orleans, The Mushroom, that I love. They have a great CD and vinyl selection. Not just the typical stuff you find in most music stores.

I believe they call those wippits. Some people really like to see their brain cells falling.

I haven't heard the term "head shop" in a long time. You made me smile.

One we have here is called Cheap Trx. You can get a tatoo, a piercing, a lot of stuff with rainbows on it and if you venture to the basement there is an assortment of videos, toys and the drug paraphanaila. Always wondered how they got away with it.

I'm a hippie at heart. This store sounds kind of interesting.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Does anyone else here own a hookah?

There are a few really nice hookah shops in the area. Of course, you can use a hookah for illicit use as well.

I do. I don't use it for illicit purposes, though. That tends to resin up worse than shisha. I guess if I had some of what the term shisha is derived from I'd give it a try.

Mine actually has 3 hoses, so you can sit around the table smoking with friends. The only problem is that you have to make sure that you plug your hose when you're not smoking, so that it actually pulls through the bowl.

We have one and have for a few years and just now the local news is doing an OMG THERE IS A HOOKAH SHOP story. Although, they do sell some "mind altering" but nonetheless legal substances (salvia, other stuff), which of course means the local news must freak out.

Naturalization
