A photograph circulating in the Internet of Democratic Sen. Barack Obama dressed in traditional local garments during a visit to Kenya in 2006 is causing a dustup in the presidential campaign over what constitutes a smear.

The Associated Press photograph portrays Obama wearing a white turban and a wraparound white robe presented to him by elders in Wajir, in northeastern Kenya. Obama's estranged late father was Kenyan and Obama visited the country in 2006, attracting thousands of well-wishers.

Well, its relevance isn't the garb he's wearing but rather how the liberal democrats are once again in self destruct mode......

How do you figure the Democratic Party is in self destruct mode? You think the Party can control the candidates, let alone the people in their campaign. Thank god Bush didnt dress up in African Garb. I just heard Hillary on the news sayin she would open up diplomacy with the terrorists in Iraq in her first sixty days in office. I hope she goes over there to have this little chit-chat. He!! at least with Barrack there would be some name recognition. They could relate to.

Right, it's from Kenya. He was there on an official visit, and like dignitaries on official visits do, he put on the local gear for a photo-op. Nothing wrong with that.

The emphasis I'm denying is on self-proclaimed, kaydee. The man isn't proclaiming he's black. How he looks is kinda there for everyone to see themselves. Should he be wearing a ski mask? Is McCain proclaiming himself as a white candidate?

For a while conventional wisdom was that the black vote would go to Clinton.

Well perhaps you simply don't get it, or choose to ignore the obvious. The media made a "rock star" out of this yahoo because he's black and for no other reason.......

Barack's only claim to fame is that he gave a speech at the convention and from that point out the media's been talking about the 1st term black Senator from Illinois.

Without that noteriety he'd be just another 1st term Senator, as he rightly should be.........
