The finer nuances of the black / white thing aside (which I seem to have missed, watching the events unfold from UK side of the pond), what is the significance of him wearing Muslim clothes? I genuinely have no idea, unfortunately.

CLINTON STAFFERS CIRCULATE 'DRESSED' OBAMA

With a week to go until the Texas and Ohio primaries, stressed Clinton staffers circulated a photo over the weekend of a "dressed" Barack Obama.

The photo, taken in 2006, shows the Democrat frontrunner fitted as a Somali Elder, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya.

The senator was on a five-country tour of Africa.

The emphasis I'm denying is on self-proclaimed, kaydee. The man isn't proclaiming he's black. How he looks is kinda there for everyone to see themselves. Should he be wearing a ski mask? Is McCain proclaiming himself as a white candidate?

“We have over 700 people on staff. I don’t know if someone on our staff sent it out or not," Elleithee said. “If someone on our staff makes the point that we are treated differently by the press than Sen. Obama, we agree with that sentiment. We don’t think there’s anything wrong with this photo. Sen. Clinton has herself, while traveling abroad, dressed in traditional, local dress. And there’s nothing divisive about that."

He also tried to push back at Obama: "We think it is wrong for the Obama campaign to say that this is divisive photo. It’s not a divisive photo."

Thanks Sister Fracas, I was about to point that out. It's so easy to asume a 'dress' is precisely this or that. Contempt prior to investigation. It is not unusual for politicians to visit foreign countries and receive traditional garbs as gifts, and sometimes use them during their visits. So this whole hooha is absurd.

Well perhaps you simply don't get it, or choose to ignore the obvious. The media made a "rock star" out of this yahoo because he's black and for no other reason.......

Barack's only claim to fame is that he gave a speech at the convention and from that point out the media's been talking about the 1st term black Senator from Illinois.

Without that noteriety he'd be just another 1st term Senator, as he rightly should be.........

Yes. Obama never makes race an issue during his campaign. Bill Clinton once said that Jesse Jackson also won South Carolina, but he did not get the nomination. Clintons hoped for the same. But that is not the case for Obama. He won SC, MD, DC where there are many black voters, but he also won IA, WI, WA, KS where overwhelming majority voters are white. It was only possible for him because he did not make race an issue.
