Wouldn't that be great if we both got approved this week!!! It looks like we filed only a few days apart. I wish I could see my fiance right now. He is starting to really stress out over in England. In a years time we have only seen each other 4 weeks! URGGGHHHH!

That would be a awesome Valentine's gift!!! And then he would be here in a week or so! :)

Tom couldn't fly to the usa that fast... he has to give at least a months notice at work and he also has to get a company in to pack up his stuff.. he is keeping all of his computers and he also has alot of music equipment... guitar, dobro, keyboards etc. that he is not going to part with. He just ordered flight cases for two of the keyboards.

I have a whole room in the house back home where we can set up his music studio. He is not a professional musician now but he was in a couple of folk bands in the 80's. He also wants to keep all his computers including the monitors. He is an electrician so he knows what needs to be done to get everything working there.

They received our waiver stuff on dec. 1st so we should be looking at the same timeline. I have no idea if or when it was entered into the system though. I want to email them but i keep thinking word will come... tomorrow.....

I wonder if they know how stressful this is. There are so many things to do that we can't do until we know. He has to figure out what to do about his pension, how to move his bank account... so many things.

Meanwhile the house in Michigan sits cold and empty... waiting for us....well not totally cold... I have left the heat at about 50F so the pipes won't freeze. I have been paying all the utility bills online while I am here.

Well John's things are all over in the states...he has virtually lived in the states his whole adult life. So I moved all his things into storage just waiting on his arrival back to the states. Right now he is only working at a recruitment place so as soon as he knows for sure he is getting a plane ticket back to the states. He will have to have someone look after his house, he is trying to sell it but hasnt worked out. He has plenty of relatives that live in England so he will have them come by to watch after the house until it gets sold.

So once he knows he really only has to take care of getting his clothes together and getting his bank account situated.....

Where in Scotland is Tom from, Mary? I LOVED my time in Scotland. (L)

Tom is from Saltcoats which is a little town on the coast, southwest of Glasgow. He wants to take me to Edinbough and then over to Saltcoats to meet his family... we hope.... it all depends on the government now. If we don't find out before next week then we can't go. And there won't be another chance. He won't get many more days off in between that holilday and when I leave. If only they had called us last week then he could have given notice at work. But now he will have to work double shifts the week before I leave. I will leave on March 21st. I can't justify paying another $200 to change my flight again. I already did that last week.

If they were to call us in the next couple of days its possible he could leave work before that busy week... thing is he works for a hospital... he can't just leave if they have nobody to take his place. Hosptitals need their electricity to function properly and there are constant emergencies.

that's if they can be bothered to answer Misty! :(

I sent one on the 8th of Feb with all my details and nothing back whatsoever!

Mary, I really hope you get a chance to see a bit of Scotland, it's a very beautiful country. I lived in a small town on the west coast called Oban for 4 years (doing my PhD up there) and I saw some of the most beautiful scenery ever!

and I echo Pax's comments, Edinburgh is a great city (especially when the fringe festival is on), but then again so is Inverness, Glasgow, Stirling etc.

I love Scotland (shame about the weather and midgies though eh?) :D

Tom has told me about midgies. We have something similar in Michigan. Shame about the weather? Hmmm.... I have to admit I am very disappointed with the weather here in London. I have not seen one flake of snow!!! Also, the people here who are complaining that it is cold do not know cold. It was minus 17 C when Tom stepped off the plane in Detroit a year ago January. He survived... even though I keep the house around 17 or 18 C in the winter. That's what sweatshirts are for! I think I would love the weather in Scotland.

Here is the snow I missed while here... this link takes you to a slideshow that my daughter in law put up on a site. You don't have to join the site... just click on the first picture and then you can look at all nine pics... the last one is a quicktime video that takes a while to load.. but it's worth it :) Have the sound on. Those are the little granddaughters I will be leaving behind if the waiver is not approved. Another baby due this summer. That's my son saying "holy cow!" lol! They have all met Tom and really like him. Everyone is hoping we will be there together soon.

No news today but after I sent Tom off to work at 4 am I turned around and on the sofa there was a valentine card and little bag with a Me to You teddy bear in it. He will have to wait til he gets home at 9pm to open the card I have for him. At 4 am I hardly know what day it is. Long long days this week. Tomorrow and thursday he works 1pm til 5am. Then 3 night shifts... and then ... the 11 day holiday. I so hope we have news before then so we can get away for a few days. We have survived togetherness for three months now in the tiniest two room flat imaginable. Meanwhile the 2000 square foot house in Michigan stands empty... waiting....

...going now to find Oban on the map... have Autoroute on this laptop

Mary, those grandkids of yours are just beautiful and your house looks fantastic, even under that huge amount of snow :o . What a lovely area you will be living in, I am sure you will be on your way back home very soon, (Hope the snow is still there for you to enjoy  )

That is my son's house ... about 40 miles from where my house is. My house was built in 1852 !!! It's a very simple two story farm house style. It needs some repairs but at least its paid for... no morgage. We would never be able to live as cheaply in London as we can in Michigan.

Yep your right no news again today! How frustrating!!! No Valentine gift yet today either. He got his in the mail but I have yet to get mine and he sent it last Tuesday. It takes alot longer coming to the states then going to England. ???

Does anyone know anything about bringing dogs to the states? John is taking his dog to the vet today to get his vaccinations up to date. The dog was originally from the states but when he moved there about 5 years ago he had it quarantined, but his mom kept him when he came back to states. Now the dog is his best friend and he won't leave him back in England this time. Will the dog be quarantined in the states? I sure hope not that would be horrible.....Any links to a website?
