I've had my Maytag Neptune washer and dryer for many years. I LUV LUV LUV them and will NEVER go back to a top load machine.

They are far gentler on clothes. Things don't 'fade' as quickly. I couldn't get stains out of clothes in my top load machine - the front loader never fails to get out a stain. And that's WITHOUT doing loads of pre-treating.

They use less water and they use less soap. More green.

:) I found a used Kenmore Front Loader on craigslist for $175!

There's also some Maytag's listed for about $300-400. It'd be nice to buy a new one, but I know last for a long time and we can really find a bargain if look hard enough.

We have a Samsung front loader, it's *huge* and like everyone else said, really gentle on the clothes.

It has a "Garment Add" button so you can add more stuff if you forgot something (though only in like the first 15 minutes of the cycle).

Only disadvantage is front loaders take longer. But you can fit more clothes in, so overall it's not that much worse.

There are now agitator-less top loaders, as someone mentioned. Fisher & Paykel has been advertising theirs a lot lately, but I think there are others.

Something about front washers. You need to make sure you keep the door open a bit to let moisture escape. If not, you will have a mildew problem. It is also important to wipe down the gasket on the door as mildew will grow around it.

Had a Frigidaire front loader for a year before I moved here, and I loved it!

It's more gentle on the clothes, but it also consumes a lot less energy.... It uses less water to soak the clothes because they don't have to bathe in it, and it spins faster than a top loader so it takes less time to dry afterward in the dryer!

Kenmore is a good brand. Actuly it is a Maytag. Sears just puts their name on it or their brand name.

Looks like a nice machine.

Better check it closely, there may be a few 'Undocumented" VJers in it!

If I were in the market it would be front loading all the way!

We have an LG front load washer and I really like it. I can wash more per load and use less water. I don't remember anymore how much they were when we got them. It'll be almost 4 yrs old now and it's still working well for us.

Eh, I prefer a top loader cos you can always open it up and throw stuff in last minute

You can do that with a front loader too.

Exactly why I love my front loader. Would never go back to those top loaders again.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

OMG having a washer and dryer in my own home... dear lord that's all I ask in life.

I can't imagine life without having them at home. There were a few years in Brazil I didn't have a dryer, but it's not like I couldn't hang the clothes to dry, no problem. But I've always have a washer, couldn't possibly imagine not having one.

Agree. Clothes are much drier whey removed from a front loader as opposed to a top loader. Also a quicker dry time if you hang-dry some of your clothes.

Have a front loader at home ... chose it for energy (and water) efficiency ... love it !!
