My neighbors leave there porch light on 24/7 for a long time till now it would brighten up our bedroom at night i wanted to say something to them or sneak over and break the light bulb lol. I cant understand why they do stupid things runs up electric bill.

one night I left the outside light on on accident after I grilled some steaks and the next morning it was busted. our neighbors are arses and the funny thing is our backyard is 1 acre so their house is 1 acre away!

I used to live in a student house (in a student area, mind you) where we had a neighbour who would complain we walked upstairs too loudly! I think we were an exceptionally quiet household. Once she called round the back (few people use their front entrances in Sheffield, but we did for this particular house) and knocked loudly on the kitchen door complaining we were making too much noise. She was so surprised when my dad, who was visiting, answered. She was completely cowed and went away.

Anyway, I moved out of that house but my housemates remained. A year or so later I met one of them on the tram. He was really upset; someone had broken into their house and although they hadn't stolen much they had trashed all of his work. He was a final year architectural student and every model that had taken hours to painstakingly build was ruined. Not only that, but the one thing from his room they had stolen was his laptop with all of his work on.

He and his housemates had been out for three hours at a party, from 8 pm to 11 pm. The kicker came when at 11.30 pm, when they were sadly inspecting the state of their house, their neighbour called round and started accusing them of having made an awful racket an hour earlier, and how she was going to phone the police, etc. etc. He dragged her round the back and pointed out the broken window and forced-open door and explained that she certainly should have called the police, an hour earlier!

That was the point I was making. It is not a measure of distance. In fact, two neighbors may both have an acre lot with houses very close to each other. In square lots with both houses centered in the lot, the houses would only be slightly more than 207 ft. center to center and even less edge to edge. They would be much closer than the 100 yards in the complaint.
