They believe this because many of the ancient artifacts- Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids for example seem to involve technology that is far too advanced and precise to have been performed by the people who lived in the era commonly associated with their construction.

As soon as anyone lays out this as part of their argument I know it's full of shite. There is no reason to suppose that these peoples were not working perfectly within their technological capablities.
