Hello all - as a touring musician I am in a different hotel room everynight... and one of those nights I left my passport behind -

Does anybody have any experience with lost passports in the middle of the visa process? Have I doomed our petition to an extra ridiculous wait?

Thanks for any info -

Rhiannon

Just replace your passport. It will be documented as lost and reissued. It shouldn't affect your visa process...you ARE the US citizen right??

No, your case is with USCIS. Your passport issues are or will be in the hands of the Dept. of State. You'll simply need a new passport to travel internationally. That has nothing to do with your spouse's visa process.

Losing passports used to be a bigger problem than before. Although the standard wait time for a US passport is weeks (assuming you are the US citizen and not the immigrant), there are now passport services online that can get you your visa in 3 business days (including the two days shipping there and shipping back). There is a fee for that but it can help you get your passport fast so it does not slow your process.

Thanks for the reassurance, everyone - I was afraid they'd have to change my passport number etc. and have to redo a lot of paperwork or something -

now my main concern is getting my new passport before our European tour!

Thanx-
