Banning?

I said 'The food business should not be allowed to sell anything that isn't food as if it werefood. There is a huge gulf between what you think I said, and what I did say.

Chemical additives whos only function is to render palatable the unpalatable should be banned if they don't occur naturally and be restricted in their use in manufactured foods if they are say salt which can be demonstrably linked to disease. I can't see there being a huge rush to buy such chemicals on the black market.

I still disagree with your statements about "what is and what isn't food," but I am forced to concur that if an additive was proven to be linked to a disease, it should be removed from store shelves immediately.

Number 6 do you ever sleep? Do you ever work? You are always here! I wish I had a job like that!

Do you?

You two are drawn to each others threads like moths to flames.

Don, I always thought it was odd that a hardcore conservative like you was happy living amongst those fruity hippies in the pacific NW but now it makes sense.

Number 6, I do work 60 hours of a week. I am weekend lead man, I manufacture ceramic slurries and I am also in charge of programming our new million dollar robot with 7000 lb. load capacity. Other than being a temperature controlled area it is very dirty, dusty and I have to lug around 100 lb. cans of Yitria flour. I spend at least 4 hours everyday with my Joy online.

Yes I do work, and you? Anytime I post you are there within minutes.

Troll, I don't mind Number 6, he is passionate I like that. He has his views and remember he must win in every little way. But he is at a disadvantage because the socialist system he trumpets pales in comparison to capitalism in that socialism only guarantees equal misery instead of bringing the highest standard of living to all those willing to work for the good of themselves and society through capitalism. There always will be a few people that don't want to work. I just say we can't save someone that refuses to save themselves

Troll, I grew up with hippies, I idolized them as a child, I drew peace signs all over the place. I had hippy friends when I was in my teenage party stage, they never worked just sat at home and collected welfare. Their house had a path through the middle with mountains of ####### piled up everywhere else. Bathtub was full of dirty dishes. I would go with them to Shakey's Pizza after it closed around 11 and dig the left over pizza dough out of the dumpster and take it back to their house. We would make loaves of bread out of it, Smoke some homegrown weed and munch on the bread. Then we would go and catch live flies and cockroaches and feed the to their Oscar Fish. Good times. Rick, Sue and the little girls name was Cara. I have eaten at many soup kitchens with them also, not because I needed to but I was bored and looking for something to do. The St. Francis center was our favorite, around 12th and SE Belmont. Oh and I would let them take showers over at my house about once a week.

But I know the truth about them also. They try to seem like they care, about the environment, animals, the living wage, the poor. It really is class envy at its worst. And the real truth is they just don't care to work very hard and still want all that they can get for little or no effort. They also think that they are entitled to it. Without the work to get it.

Their activities now are borderline treasonous in my opinion From the violent and destructive protests about the war, to the eco-terrorism that takes place around here, or the driving of people out of business that they don't like through constant harassment. It all happens here. They are far from the peace and love that were their hallmarks of the 60's.

My beloved Joy is here, married and pregnant!

Yes. I work. Thanks for slapping your ####### out on the table ;) We go from discussing the topic to it being about my personal life. What's that about?

So I'm a hippy now... And "borderline traitorous" to boot... Characterised no doubt by your experiences with people with messy houses and smoking home-grown weed. Another label to add to the repertoire ;) I don't smoke, nor is my house messy - but don't let that stop you.

I'm also not sure exactly how I "trumpet" socialism... I believe in social services as it pertains to healthcare and education - but that's hardly Hammer and Sickle or Stasi material is it...

Please feel free to continue with your vacuous rhetoric. Perhaps you should listen to some more talk radio to give you something to pump your arm up and down while shouting "damn right" after every soundbite.

Goodness, I hope those sloppy hippies got it together and started a reasonable housekeeping regimen! Are these the good folks who have been burning down houses in Paradise Valley? I've been wondering who was responsible for that recklessness.

Perhaps you should have suggested that they wash dishes in the bathtub and take a bath at the same time. That way, you wouldn't be burdened by having them shower at your place once a week, plus they'd learn that hard work is its own reward. But I guess you always think of these things after the fact...

Number 6 only the first paragraph of that in that post applied to you. I was just wondering through the memories of my past, sorry. I was just trying to let you know that even though I seem like a goody two shoes now, that is not where I started by a long shot. It was a little vacuous wasn't it. Most was addressed to Troll. By the way, why do you never show your face. Are you always this angry? Do you not have any friends? I am a glass half full kind of guy, your glass seems to be half empty. Why do you hate rich people anyway? Did you have a rich kid beat your a$$ in school? I thought you lefties never hate. Seems to only go one way, huh. I would not consider you a hippie, I am sorry you thought I was calling you one. I was not.

Aos Despair As a matter of fact they lost Cara and the other baby that was born after that named Dolce to the state, and they divorced and I didn't see them much after the mortgage company foreclosed on their house and sold it. Rick actually served in Vietnam and commanded a swift boat like John Kerry, but returned to the states with an addiction to heroine. He was over that by the time I had met him.

That's all very sad. I'm not sure what it has to do with hippies (I'm not even sure what that means these days), but sad.

I knew some people not unlike those folks when I lived in Tucson, but also intelligent, industrious dope-smokers. It's hard to generalize.

Really... you mean the diatribe about me followed by the aside to Troll with a 3rd person narrative about "entitlement enablers". Regardless of who you addressed it to - the train of thought there was pretty clear.

By the way, why do you never show your face.

Because, like other VJers who don't post photos of themselves or use their real names in their IDs I value my personal privacy. Nothing sinister about that.

Are you always this angry?

No.

Do you not have any friends?

Of course.

I am a glass half full kind of guy, your glass seems to be half empty.

9/10 borderline traitors disagree.

Why do you hate rich people anyway?

I don't.

Did you have a rich kid beat your a$$ in school?

No.

I thought you lefties never hate

"Lefty" might help you compartmentalise me - on the basis that I disagree with you on many issues, but to me its simply a meaningless term. I'm an individual - not part of some sort of group hive-mind.

In 2005, Hillary co-sponsored legislation in the United States Senate to offer free health insurance, under the State Child Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to the children of illegal immigrants who have lived in the United States for five years. So, those who have dodged the immigration cops for five years successfully would be rewarded not only with legal status and a path to citizenship, but with immediate free health care for their children.

God forbid we should provide health care to children whose parents dragged them here illegally. Clearly they were complicit in this crime. To punish them, we should withold preventive care and instead wait until they're really sick, at which point we will pay thousands and thousands of dollars to treat them in the ED or, worse, to hospitalize them. That's a really good use of our money, isn't it?

Number 6, it seems a little sinister, thats all. What, do you think I would stalk you or something. I think it is the other way around. I can't seem to get you off my shoe, I might have to use the water hose. I am willing to show my face and look you in the eye to tell you what I have to say. I am in the phone book if you want to look me up. I don't care.

It might be sinister if I were out there prying into other people's personal lives.

Nothing wrong with maintaining a detachment between the internet and real life. If that's too claustrophobic for you then I don't know what to tell you... except that many people don't appreciate overfamiliarity from total strangers.

I mean... would you appreciate this?

Don, I must explain to you that number six only as the ability to hear himself! All other aspects of conversation are futile.
