Hi All. We are swaped in paperwork and can no longer think rationally and are begining to doubt ourselves. I am writing to make sure we are clear:

1) We live in New York and want to mail the AOS and EAD together (concurrently) Does this mean we send both to Chicago? And include EAD in my AOS cover letter? I also want to make sure the total for both is $1010.

2) We have just learned about the I 131 (i think its called AP, correct?) Does filing out this for allow my husband to travel before the AOS (green card)? We would like to travel to Germany in June 2008 for an event and wondered if filing now Jan. 2008 we would be approved in time for our trip. Or is that the reason people file the I 131? TO be able toleave the USA before the greencard?

3) I this is so and we file ALL AOS/EAD/AP doe we send it all to Chicago together and include in my coverletter? Also, would the total fee now be $1010 + $305 = $1313? Can i write that total in ONE check or Should I submit Two checks (one for 1010 and one for 305)?

I hope y'all understand my questions. This paperwork has given my a punding headache!!! :bonk: This is how I feel!

First of all - this is the K1 forum. Check the AOS forum next time ;)

The $ 1,010.00 covers the fees vor AOS, EAD and AP.

You can mail all those documents together in one envelope to the Chicago address. It is important though, that you treat all 3 applications independently, meaning if you have to submit 2 passport pics for each application you will have to submit a total of 6 passport pics. Same with copies of the I-94, the vias in your passport etc. You can send one cover letter - just make sure you mark the EAD and the AP package properly as well.

If you (your husband) would like to travel to Germany in June then yes, you should apply for AP. It doesn't take to long to approve and is good for 1 year, so you will def. be fine to travel without the Greencard. Don't ever let him leave the US without AP! That will be considered "status abandoned" and you guys would have to start all over again and apply for a spuosal visa.

FYI: You will have to pay attention to letters and emails from USCIS - if they schedule the AOS interview while you are abroad, you will have to reschedule it.

- 1-131 is Advance Parole, and yes it will allow your husband to travel outside the USA before the greencard.

- Yes send it all at the same time at Chicago and include in your coverletter. And total fee for AOS/EAD/AP is $1010 and only 1 check. No more extra $305 AP coz its already included in the $1010 fee

Poor darling.

Let's hope they do not notice.

After all this all but a game, and if you don't worry too much (challenging, I know) things usually go alright; even when something is not "perfect".

Now take a deep breath.

It will be okay.

Can I ask you:

what kind of cheque did you include?

A regular bank cheque, or a money order, or...?

Thanks.
