Anyone have any ideas as to why the processing times keep going up? When I started my timeline the date was June 29th 2008 and now its all the way up to July 9th. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to this drastic change in dates.

Good luck to all, I wish patience was a virtue that I possessed

For some reason CSC have almost completely stopped processing K-1 visas. This week we've seen 3 approvals, and last week we had 7. I don't know why this is happening. I called customer service last week and was told there was no delay in processing. I would highly encourage (and in fact *plead* for) other CSC filers to call and see if they can get a straight answer.

So to answer your question, the longer CSC are at a standstill, the more drawn out our timelines are going to get.

OK, I'm thinking of giving them a call. But what do I say if I use the RFE trick? And won't they just tell me I'm calling too early (I'm a mid-November filer)?

I am slowly learning patience. I remember when I filed in July that my date said October. Now it is January 18 and I am still waiting. Be ready for a long wait...

According to the USCIS the wait is about 6 months so your timeline looks correct.

Good Luck!

Just tell them you're calling to check on the status of your filing. They're not going to get after you for using the RFE trick. In fact, I'm pretty sure there are multiple pathways into their call center, so they don't really know how your call got to them.

You're right, they will tell you that you need to wait. When I called last week (I'm a September filer) they told me that my case won't even be looked at for another couple months. Hopefully that's just more misinformation, but it's not the real reason for your call anyway. :)

Anyway, after you get those formalities out of the way, then it's time to ask why CSC seem to have completely stopped processing K-1's. Mention VJ and that there are many hundreds of filers here (slight exaggeration but they don't know that), and that normally we see approvals at a steady rate but that they've all dried up since the beginning of the year. Chances are you will get the same line they gave me, but you might get lucky and get some info. Good luck!

Generally the service centers post the oldest application they still have waiting approval as the date currently processing. In this way they avoid the frantic phone calls from congressmen asking about when a particular application will be approved and why is it taking so long.

Your best bet is to sign up for email notification with the USCIS. You will then be able to see how often your case it moved, otherwise called a touch.

I took Mox's suggestion and called USCIS to find out ####### the holdup is with I-129F processing.

I spoke with the CSR lady at lunch today using the RFE trick and asked her my case status. She said they are currently working on the July 31, 2007 applications and with that said, I shouldn't expect a decision on my case until 4 months from now. Funny cuz according to my VJ timeline, my estimated date slipped down to 5/3/08 (from 4/7/08).

I then asked her what the hold up at CSC is. I told her that i belong to an online community where members post their approvals from different service centers and based on the numbers, VSC is processing faster than CSC. I asked if the K-1's are on a hold right now and is it because they're processing other applications at this time. The CSR said that no, K-1's are not on hold but they ARE processing other applications as well.....and that there's a backlog since they are also working on other apps from other service centers. She couldn't tell me anything more than that.

That's all the info I got....nothing we don't already know.
