So when I submitted my I-129f in late November, I hadn't found this site and I am sure that I could have done a few things differently, but oh well. My question is, I sent in my passport as proof of my citizenship, not thinking that I will travel out of the country any time in the near future, but now I will be (my plane ticket was purchased for me). Will I get my passport back any time soon? Or will it be with the NOA2 in a few months? (or never, lol) I leave in the beginning of March. Thanks if anyone can let me how this works!

You should have submitted a copy of your pass-port. It may be easier to try to get another one instead of trying to get this one back- imo.

You will have to apply for a new one, you wont be getting it back.

You had to send in a copy of your passport, not your original passport. Originals are not returned.

Bad move never send originals of any evidence to USCIS.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

At this point I would be contacting Department of State and declaring the passport lost and getting a replacement.

There's a tiny chance that they'll return your passport because it's such an important document, but your file is currently sitting in a box somewhere, and nobody's even going to see your file until around late February at the earliest.

You can try to call USCIS and see if they'll search out your file and return your passport, but the chances of them doing that for you are small. Still, it can't hurt. As others have suggested you probably will need to get a new passport.

(oh, and any reason why you have 2 topics on this question going?)

there are probably 2 topics because my computer is a dork :P, but thanks for the response!

I think you will need to wait for the NOA1 to see what happens. Perhaps the person that logs in your file will realize what a huge mistake you made, make a copy for the file and send back your passport with the NOA1. Now that's a real hopeful scenario, but don't hold your breath on that. Chances are they will assume the passport is expired and just keep it in the file. Afterall, you are asking some very over worked bureaucrats to think.

Either way, the chances of finding your file until a case number has been assigned is very small. You'll need the NOA1 just to start a search.

Thanks to all the responses, but I guess I should have checked the mail before posting this. My passport was arrived! Hopefully I will continue to have good luck.
Excellent,

In the future remember DO NOT send original evidence to USCIS like the I-94 card your fiancee will get when entering on the K-1.
