I would like to see someone starting "mocking" the tenants of Islam in here and you will see what happens. The cries would be deafening!

Islam is just as retarded.

Its hard not to mock people who insist on the validity of Creationist theory (most specifically that it should somehow be 'introduced' in the general curriculum for High School science classes) to the point that millions of dollars are spent on Alternative Natural History "Museums" that show Adam and Eve being chased out of the Eden by T-Rex et al, and also those folks who insist that signage at the Grand Canyon view remove all mention of its geological age.

At the end of the day its as ridiculous as the numbnuttedness that goes on over what to call "The Holidays", but it does show how reactionary people are willing to be about stupid, trivial issues; while everything else goes to pot.

Yes, this is disparaging to Christian. From belittling their beliefs to telling them that they are numb nuts. Absolutely. Every religion has such beliefs I don't hear any other religions being "mocked" here.

There are other religions that believe in creationism. Also, not every Christian believes in creationism. All I see is criticism of creationism, not Christianity.

The context of the discussion was about Christianity. There had been no mention of any other religion up to that point.

That still doesn't constitute vehement disparaging of Christianity. IIRC, #6 does consider himself a Christian.

How is it disparaging to Christians? I referred explicitly to "people who insist on the validity of Creationist theory". Perhaps that designation applies to you - which perhaps is where you're coming from in thinking that I was making a general comment about Christianity. I was not, and I would be surprised if that designation applies to "all" Christians. But its really irrelevant as that is a comment which in all honesty I can't and wouldn't make.

Incidentally the "Numbnuttedness" I referred to was in regard to the mentality of the above (bit that you bolded), not in regard to Christians in general or their beliefs. If you want to take it that way you can - but its stretching what was intended past the breaking point IMO.

The context of the discussion was about Christianity. There had been no mention of any other religion up to that point.

Well you did just bring in Islam...

Maybe so, but your cries are pretty deafening too. Everyone likes to defend what they believe in.

I will try never try to condemn people for their religions or their religious beliefs. If you want to Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or whatever. I will condemn people that strap a bombs to their a$$ and kill people. That is not because the believe in Islam or whatever, but because they strap bombs to their a$$' and kill people. I will condemn people that defend such behavior.

Holy #######. (think mushrooms, people)

I seriously cannot overstate the wonder of this thread. Holy #######, I feel like I'm about to be hit by flying bible. Should that be capitalized? :bonk:

I'll say it again, Holy #######.

Ask yourself:

Certainly. But that's not the same argument posed by that particular brand of Creationism which arises out of literal interpretations of the bible.

My personal view on this is that asking a modern audience to reject scientists' ongoing attempts to understand these phenomena and accept illogical, supernatural explanations is a bit unrealistic. I also feel that way about the general elements of religion that require a belief in the supernatural.

The problem I have seen with people not voting has to do with the false belief that the people cannot elect against the wishes of the jackasses and fat asses. If the large number of despondent citizens were to stand up and vote for third party candidates, it will change the extremism and bickering seen in our current two-party system.

I've never seen a connection made between having a fat ### and not voting. Do you have any data to back that up (no pun intended).
