Varicella Vaccination for AOS If You've Already Had Chicken Pox? Yay or Nay?

So we're getting ready to send all the vaccination stuff off, and we were wondering what the deal is with varicella. Ewen had chicken pox as a child, and he has the records of the titre test he took at his GP that reflect the presence of the varicella antibodies in his blood. So...he doesn't need the vaccine, then? Does he need to have some certain level of antibodies or something?

the only thing I submitted was the titre results that showed I had the anti-bodies. I was not asked to submitt anything else, nor to have any vaccinations other than tetanus.

I had my medical in Canada tho, for a K3 visa. My AOS was based on that. It may be different requirements for other countries/types of adjustments. I shouldn't think a vaccination is required if one has already had the disease.

If he had chicken pox, then he doesn't require any vaccine.

That's what I thought. He had a tetanus booster and the MMR vaccination both in late August of 2005, and then had his medical in September 2005, so he should be good to go.

Our civil surgeon put the approximate date of Wes childhood illness on the I-693A (the line that pertains to varicella).

When I did my medical in Canada, the doctor waived this vaccination since I was overage. I got chicken pox when I was 12 though, but they didn't require me to show anything. My AOS was also based on this K3 medical.

My civil surgeon didnt even fill the chicken pox section in and my AOS was approved no problems. All I had to show was my MMR and TD vaccinations.

Hi Abby,

I just told the Dr at the Nuffield I had it twice as a child and he wrote that on my vacc form - no need for test or another jab I was told.

I ha measles when I was little but they gave me the vaccination either way....they didn't even want to test my antibodies (cos of course it takes a long time to do that and they cannot waste time...)

My surgeon basically put down the time when I had chicken pox as a child and didn't require me to get the vaccination. I've been exposed to it enough and didn't develop any more pox.

only took a week to get my results back. I scheduled ahead, with plenty of time before my medical.
