Kun & Alyssa China Nebraska No Guangzhou, China 2021-06-21 2022-03-18 2022-03-22 2023-02-21 2023-04-26 2023-08-07 2023-09-08 2021-05-21 674* We were put on administrative review after our interview for three months. They sent the passport back to us. We found out we got the IR1 instead of the CR1. (Our two-year anniversary was after the interview but before the visa was approved.) However, the visa deadline to enter the US is based on the medical health check. Try to get the health check later so you have enough time to transition. We received the visa on August 7th and the expiration date was September 15th, not very practical but we made it work. When my husband entered the US, he was put in a room and had to wait an hour for someone to come in and ask him where he would live, which they could check in the system. Then he was free to go. SS received 09/22/2023 (two week wait) and Green card received 10/06/23 (four week wait) 2023-10-07

But then we had a few issues with documents, and we went through maybe 2-3 rounds of submitting new documents before we were marked as Documentarily Qualified on Feb 27, 2023. 2023-04-27

I-601 waiver was filed to USCIS in late Sept 2022, and expedited in April 2023 due to wife's life-threatening illness with the diagnosis, doctors' letters and other certificates. I-601 was approved in May 2023, the case was sent to consulate again, no second interview was necessary, just sent in the passport and a second medical exam report. The visa was issued on 6/23/2023 and finally received on 6/28/2023. From filing to IR-1 visa received, it takes total 31 months with a late stage cancer diagnosis. Before filing I-130, we filed I-129F for K-1 visa that was approved then withdrawn because the suspension of K-1 visa during the first year of COVID. Nearly 4 years of life was spent on filing and seemingly endless waiting, very hard to go through. This makes us to cherish life more, cherish love even more. Peace to the world. 2023-06-29
