NBI expiration

I am just curious. We have all of our paperwork ready for tomorrow’s interview but there was a quiestion about how recent the NBI certificate needs to be. We got ours in September in anticipation of a quicker journey. The NBI has an expiration date on it of September 2018 but will we get dinged for it being too old?  There is nothing we can do about it now but I was wondering if the US has a more stringent expiration date for the NBI.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

That should be okay since the NBI certificate in the Philippines is good for 1 year. Congratulations and good luck on your interview!

NBI and CENOMAR are the documents that the embassy is picky about for being "too old", they don't like either document to be older than 6 months at the time of interview. More then likely you will receive an RFE for a newer clearance. This will add about 2 weeks after they receive your new documents.

You are borderline on that age, as Greenbaum stated the embassy likes them to be no older than 6 months, but this is not a written rule, this is only something that we have observed over the years.   For missing documents or other document requests the embassy will issue a 221g, this is normally done by email now a days.

Well, the date was no problem. We passed the interview but we have to have an NBI AKA done before they release the visa. The midwife at Aira’s birth misspelled Rose’s name!!!  We have to run an NBI report for the misspelled name!!!  Damn. We did pass though.

We have a month so we are hoping it will work out. Rose has a connection at NBI who will try to have it to her by Friday. They originally said May 2. We will see. It is just another part of the waiting game but most of the wait is way behind us. We still have CFO peer counseling for the kids after VOH.

NBI isn't sending it directly to the embassy?   Did you bring the 221g email to NBI ?

Congrats.  We had the same problem, and got a 221G as well.  Her name was horribly wrong on her birth certificate, but it was fixed when she was still a baby.  They wanted the original incorrect name as an AKA.  It took about two weeks to take care of everything.

That may have been option but not sure.  We sent hers in rather than NBI.

Finally done.

We were told to take the new certificate to 2GO and they would deliver it. They gave us a detailed instruction sheet on what to include and that we should not pay anything to 2GO.

Excellent.  Just making sure you followed embassy instructions.      Bring a copy of the email/letter to 2GO

With some they require NBI or PSA to direct deliver.

Hi John,

Congratulations.

I had the same issue as my name ( beneficiary) was misspelled on my son's birth cert. Initially, I went to Robinson's East - April 11 (Interview April 10)and NBI will only be ready for released by April 30. I did not rest, and went to NBI Main instead, 4th floor - Ms Tess. There is a lshort queue but fast. Your fiancee' just need to explain reason for release and mine was approved for release in 8 min - I was prioritized.  Subsequently, I went to the ground floor for printing of my NBI with AKA. Went to the nearest 2toGo in Mabini St.

They were really nice and understanding. I told them I am getting married and my visa can't be release.

April 10, 2018 - Interview

April 11, 2018 - NBI Robinson's East

April 13, 2018 - NBI Main and was released, sent to 2toGo

April 16, 2018 - Embassy Received by Manuel Manalysay

April 18, 2018 - sent USEM email and they have updated CEAC still on AP

April 19, 2018 - updated CEAC still on AP ( Immigrant VISA)

April 20, 2018 - updated CEAC - visa "issued ( Non Immigrant VISA)

Hence, we are now waiting on our visa packet to be delivered anytime next week :)

I hope this will help expedite your processing time for 221g Administrative Processing.
