Hi everyone. i need help completing the documents needed. My mother is co sponsoring me. I already have her federal income tax return and w2 forms. Do we still need to get an IRS tax transcript and submit it with the package? And what are the documents can we use as proof of domicile? And also, she is divorced to my father, do we need the marriage termination documents? Thank you for the answers! Godbless!

Evidence of intention to establish domicile is only required when petitioners are living overseas. They must show concrete plans to return to the US with their spouse - job offers, applications for apartments, etc

Your mother must be living in the US and be either a USC or an LPR to act as joint sponsor. So you must send either a copy of her birth certificate or her passport or her green card (whichever is applicable).

We sent W2s and a federal income tax return. Although NVC accepted that and scheduled an interview, I have to take a tax transcript as well to the embassy.

It matters not that your mother is divorced. No documents about her marital status are required.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

No. 1040's plus W2's together are enough.

No specific domicile proof is required here, unless she is NOT currently living in America right now.

If she is, done.

If not, then she has to be "domiciled" in America. We can get into that if she does not live in America RIGHT NOW.

As long as her tax returns do not show her as married, then you are good, and no marriage termination documents are required.

If that is not the case, then we can get into that.

Hi guys,

I have a question related to co-sponsorship of my husband. I had been out of States for the most part of the year and therefore could not work at all. In order to file the affidavit of support, I have turned to a friend who is willing to be a co-sponsor in our case. However, his AGI is just about $200 more than the required poverty line. Do you guys think that it is a good idea for him to co-sponsor my husband or should I try to find someone else? Thanks for your help.

Find somebody else to be the "joint sponsor". Friends are really a last resort, even if their income is well over the requirements. Look for somebody qualified that also has a plausible reason to actually make good on the terms of the contract. Family members, except elderly ones, are always a better choice when possible.
