Hello,

My husband immigrated to the U.S. on a K1 Visa from Lebanon. We have gotten married, and have filed for his adjustment of status. Since his K1 Visa has surpassed 90 days and we are waiting for his green card/AOS to be approved, are we allowed to travel to Puerto Rico for honeymoon? What kind of documents will we need for travel? Will we be given a hard time at the airport? Again, he does not have his green card yet, we have filed for AOS but have not received it yet. We did, however, receive an I-797 that the paperwork has been accepted and is in process. Can we still travel to Puerto Rico? Thank you in advance!

I assume you also filed for AP and EAD with the AOS since they don't cost anything extra, you should have the AP and EAD combo card within 90 days from filing. He can travel with his AP and he can work with his EAD.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

Katerina, I did end up going to Puerto Rico and we were not questioned at all. We brought our passports, K1 visa documents and everything, in case they were going to give us a hard time. But we were fine! The only thing they looked at for both of us was our driver's licenses. We went from DTW to MIA to SJU, then coming back from SJU to FLL to DTW.

We are still waiting on his adjustment of status/green card too. Even though we submitted it in July (travelled to PR in November). He has his drivers license showing his US address.

Can i ask you something bro when did you get your visa ?

sorry to bring up a dead thread....but if a k1 holder recently arrived in the USA probably doesn’t have a drivers license yet so just wondering would the k1 holders passport be enough to enter back into USA mainland from San Juan Puerto Rico?
