Please add SSL certificate to the website

Dear VJ!

You guys are totally awesome, but I just wanted to add a bit of a request for the site.

At the moment it doesn't seem that VJ is encrypted, and all logins can be captured if someone was sniffing on the network.

I just found out about this, which apparently it's been around for 2 years now, but this organization gives away FREE SSL certificates. (it is done in 3 year increments, but can renew for FREE as well)

they're very legit, even Mozilla firefox will be distributing their root certificate.

Please consider this feature for the site to help protect the site as well as user traffic.

Bumping this thread to remind Captain Ewok.

 

It's important to get this done for obvious privacy and security reasons, but also Google is starting to down-rank non-SSL results in their listings, and that's only going to get worse.

Next on my list. We need to tune the current SW before upgrading. Fwiw our next migrations are to SSL and then a new server with the latest CentOS installed.

Captain Ewok!!!!  Thank you very very much! -- I didn't even realize you had ssl on until I just looked on my pc browser now.  I guess my mobile phone browser was filled with so much content that I didn't see it.

Yep, fully https now!  Also Http/2 if you are curious. We are adding HSTS as well in the next 24 hours to fully round things out.
