I have a family friend who is in the process of adjusting status from a work visa. His American wife does not work and is estranged from her so they require a cosponsor. They have asked me to cosponsor which is not a problem as he is hard working and is in good health, but I have an I-864 already on file for my wife and step-daughter and I am not sure the impact will be cosponsoring him on my immediate family.

Constructive suggestions only

When you calculate your household size it will include you, your wife, your stepdaughter, any other dependents you claim, him, and his spouse (if she is applying also).

The friend's wife is a USC, she is not counted on the Joint Sponsor's I-864.

You will have to count anyone you have already sponsored in your household size when filling out an I-864 as a joint sponsor. That is the only 'impact' it will have.
