Proof of legal stay (k1) while waiting for ead/ap

Hi! I would like to know what I need to prove my legal stay here in the us.. My state ID is valid until next month only and next month is when we're gonna submit our aos... Might take at least a couple of mos for my ead/ap after submitting aos.. What would be sufficient to prove that i'm staying here legally while i'm waiting for ead/ap? Thanks!!!

In Washington state you can renew your ID card online.

When your 90 days runs out you're not in legal stay until you submit your AOS.

Most driving licences, ID cards etc require at least your EAD card.

I agree with Cody and Disney. When the 90 days runs out you are in a sort of limbo until you receive either the EAD, AP, or GC from the AOS filing. Also, a state ID or driver's license is not valid for showing US legal status.

My advice, file the AOS as soon as possible. My wife's took about 3.5 months for the EAD and less than 6 months for the GC approval (still awaiting receipt of the GC). Once you get the EAD you can renew the state ID as it will allow the state to verify US legal status, but it will only be valid for the period of the EAD. You will need to renew it again once you receive the GC.

The I-94 proves your legal status in the US. Once that expires, you will be out of status unless/until you have filed for AOS, which places you in a new period of authorized stay. You can use the receipt notice from filing for AOS to prove your authorized stay in the US. Most states will want at least the EAD to issue a license/state ID though.
