Can you collect your passport from the embassy?

Do you have to pay the courier fee and have it delivered or can you collect it from the embassy once it's ready (following a K1 interview, assuming all goes well)?

No you can't. I suppose you could set delivery for Starbucks nearby the embassy and wait there if you really wanted to pick it up in London.

I remember one person who got special treatment because the Embassy had misprinted her visa...wrong passport number or name or something. It had to be done over and she already had flight reservations and little time when she noticed it. Because it was their error. They did the re-do in a few hours and gave it to her so she could go catch her flight.

So if I had a friend who lived in London, would using their address be quicker?

hmmm... I don't know. Normally once turned over to the courier, it's next day delivery anyway unless you live in a far flung place where it has to get transferred to Royal Mail for final delivery. You might could save one day. She needs ID from you. With this depot pick up option they do now, one of our members said when you get the courier notification, it is already at the local designated depot. He went to the depot as soon as he got the email and picked his up that day, even though it said available the next day.

On the day of your interview, you can try to beg for anything you want and see what happens. Sad face...big tears...wedding to get to. I know you have a deadline in March. Probably better to beg for a quick interview. This isn't a busy month so it ought to go faster for you than those last month.

That was true for us - he got the notification email that it was in transit to the West Midlands this morning and stopped by the pick up location an hour later just to check and sure enough, the packet was there already. It's been the easiest part of this process so far
