It means you're waiting until they finish security checks. It's not a denial or approval.

at this stage you can only try to keep yourselves sane and have patience.

Your case is basically on hold until they finish the security checks. The security check can take days, weeks or months. No one can give any kind of timeline estimate when a case is undergoing background checks because there really are no set timelines.

I'm an August filer though and visa journey and uscis says that they're on June still. But this definitely means my case is being processed and no longer on the wait list right?

Also what type of security check is done for k-1?
