Hello everyone,

My fiancé has been calling for the last 16 working days trying to schedule his K1 Fiance Visa Interview and keeps being told that "there are currently NO available visa interviews for people from Mexico, unless they are doing a Tourist Visa."

Anyone else experiencing this?  Any advice?  Anyone else heard this?

Thanks!

Jake

Not K1 specific (we did CR1), but should be the same. We noticed that they only open interview slots for 1 month blocks at a time. The month would open up about 9 weeks prior. In our case, we noticed that September appointments became available around June 25 and October appointments became available around July 25.

Appointments go fast. An entire month would be booked within maybe 3-5 days. This could be what you're seeing. You'll likely have to keep trying (try every day!) until they decide to open February for appointments. Hopefully that happens in the coming days/weeks.

Correct - this is totally normal and unfortunately just how it goes. You need to call every day; sometimes even multiple times a day.

I scheduled my husband's interview online. I logged in and there were ZERO appointments, everything was greyed out, I couldn't do anything. I repeated this process for several days. Then, just because I am impatient, I one time refreshed the screen 30 seconds later after seeing all empty slots and BAM! An appointment opened up from a cancellation someone made in the last 30 seconds. I was able to get my interview for less than three weeks later.

Just keep trying!!

I think K1 schedules their own but CR1 has NVC schedule it for them, not sure if that means they can get one faster.

We actually did DCF and we scheduled our own. From what I know you both CR1 and K1 select from the same pool of appointments but being able to do it on your own allows you to schedule and reschedule as much as you'd like without having to call them. This allowed us to find an appointment as soon as we got the letter and then reschedule it twice without any hassle.

DCF is different and quicker, but I'm pretty sure CR1 has to wait for NVC from the posts I've seen and from talking to NVC directly about how my case is different with the consular expedite.

There's been a few posts in the past week by people from Mexico and they've been contacting NVC for months waiting for an appointment, their docs don't go to the consulate until they have an appointment scheduled.

Ah sorry, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was pointing out how scheduling your own appointment can be much quicker and easier. I was able to experience this myself as a CR1 applicant thanks to DCF. But yes, non DCF CR1s cannot schedule their own.

I now have access to schedule my interview except, there's no dates....:ranting:

Hopefully its not too many weeks for new dates, have a feeling it wont be till December.

Hopefully its not too many weeks for new dates, have a feeling it wont be till December.

I've mentioned this a few times on here but while I was scheduling (and then rescheduling) my interview I noticed this pattern:

- The embassy only opens up 1 month blocks at a time. At any given time you'll only find appointments for a single month.

- The month fills up fast, probably within 3-5 days. If you miss your window you'll have to wait until the following month opens.

- They open up appointments for a month about 9 weeks before the first of that month. When I was checking they opened the entire month of September for appointments around July 22 - July 25. These were all gone by the end of July. Around August 22 - 25 they opened up the entire month of October. Again, these were all gone within a week.

So from the look of it December has already been fully booked, but no one has had a chance to book January appointments. They should open up January soon, like in the next few days soon.

Finally, a tip: Refresh that calendar like crazy. I'm talking about multiple times per hour. People cancel their appointments all of the time and you'll randomly see an appointment open up on there. Don't hesitate to take it. This is what I did and it saved me over a month. I got packet 3 mid July and a few days later September opened up. By the time I noticed it was mostly booked so I settled for Sept 21. A few days later all September appointments were gone. I kept refreshing and within a few days an appointment opened up for September 11th, so I took it. I kept at it and an appointment opened up for August 15, 5 weeks before my original date and only about 3 weeks after receiving packet 3.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had seen someone on the forums with a Jan 8 date but they had a k1, although the appt blocks are the same for them I think.

The only downside is that flights are still super expensive on that date from the holidays but it was the only date, so I had to take it.

Awesome! Definitely sounds like a cancelled appointment. Refreshing the calendar pays off again!

Also I just realized I did my math wrong. They should be opening up February appointments in a few days, so you definitely lucked out.
