Hello all, I received my case number from the NVC last week. I called today in a whim to check on the status of the K1. I am the petitioner. When I called today I was told it's in administrative processing.

I am absolutely freaking out. Can anyone help me understand why, what I should do, how long this could take and has anyone else been in this situation?  My stomach is in knots and I am totally dejected. I am heartbroken thinking of telling my fiancée this news.

There are other people in this situation. I will give you a link to Part Two, and you can check it out.

I was in AP at NVC. It is most likely random, we were there for nearly 8 weeks. I was told at the interview it was random. There isn't anything you can do, but wait it out.  There is also no time frame for AP, I'm sorry to say. What you can do, is get all of the things ready you need for the next step. Here is the link.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

no, I am a US Citizen petitioning for my husband in the Dominican Republic.

Ok, hope you get what you're waiting for soon. I asked, because the OP is on a K1, and the link I provided discusses that. Good luck!

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You are not alone, our case is stuck at NVC, too. Today it's 6 weeks :( ... I really hope that next week will be the last.

Thursday when I called the lady said AP was finished. But she couldn't give a definitive date it would be sent to the embassy. Called Friday and guess what, I was told I'm still in AP. I would love consistency and everyone to be on the same page

Are you still at NVC? For us, this is the beginning of the 7th week. No patience to wait any longer. :(

Irritating, isn't it. They told me at one stage our case was 'lost', and nobody knew where it was. It wasn't lost at all, for the next day when we called it had been 'found'. The trouble is, those people who answer the help line don't really know anything.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

You can ask to speak to a tier two Supervisor. You may be told there isn't one available, but keep trying.
