Do they usually ask questions about your B1B2 visa on the interview?

Hello everyone! : )

I'm curious, if the interviewer usually asks questions about b1b2 visa. Do they ask you about the purpose of why you applied for visa etc? I do have a still valid b1b2 which I received 3 years ago. Travelled to the U.S. two times , never overstayed. Just wondering if they will be asking me questions about my visitor visa on my spousal immigrant visa interview at the embassy.

  • I-130 filed - 9/22/2016
  • NOA1(Went to Nebraska) - 9/27/2016 
  • Got transferred to Texas Service Center - 2/23/2017
  • NOA2 - 3/28/2017 
  • Got sent to NVC - 3/31/2017 
  • NVC received our case - 4/7/2017
  • Case number assigned - 4/6/2017
  • DS-261 Filled out - 4/10/2017
  • Welcome letter/invoice received - 4/11/2017
  • AOS fee payed - 4/12/2017
  • IV fee payed - 4/14/2017
  • Completed DS-260 Application - 4/20/2017
  • Sent documents to NVC - 5/15/2017
  • Scan Date - 5/19/2017
  • Case Complete at NVC - 7/19/2017
  • Interview date released - 8/1/2017
  • Interview date - 9/6/2017 - Approved!

They can ask about any past/ present visas held or applications for a visa during your interview. It is not uncommon to ask questions based on responses to your DS-260/160.

Yes, I did, got the visa, tomorrow i got my flight. I was denied for a tourist visa like 1-2 years ago. they just asked if i applied with immigrant visa ( i didn't, we were thinking if we should get married and apply for IR-1/CR-1 or go for the K-1 visa ) and that's all. Just be honest !

The thing is that when I was applying for my b1b2 , I stated that my trip purpose was tourism and I wanted to see Miami with my friend. But I didn't end up going there, instead I stayed with my then boyfriend now husband in PA. It was our very first time to see each other in real life! After spending 8 months of long distance relationship. I didn't overstay though. I didn't violate my visitor visa, didn't work or anything like that. I still traveled around PA so yeah, I was a tourist. I was given 6 months to stay but I left after 3 months. I will tell them that on the interview of course, I just hope it won't be a problem for me getting approved.

December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!

April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
