i read on the Kiev Embassy website that after doing the medical you can travel for up to 6 months. Does this mean it would be ok to do the medical a few months before the expected interview date? I know there's always the possibility f bumps in the road and the visa process dragging out or not being granted but aside from that. I sent in our I 129F packet yesterday so I'm hoping for December/ January approval. All this paperwork stuff stresses my fiancé out and since I'll be in Ukraine in September I was wondering if we could get the medical out of the way while I'm there to help

There's a slight chance this might be different in some countries, as parts after NVC are country specific, however most medicals require that you have either booked an interview date for which u need ur WAC# that comes with ur NOA2 and/or ur NVC case#, or that you have either of those numbers or have recieved the package 3 from the US embassy in the specific country. This is because the doctor will send all the medical information to the embassy and then it needs a reference number.

However, find out what doctors do the visa medicals in Ukraine country and call them and ask for the requirements to book such an appointment. Also get all her vaccination history since this is needed for the medical.

Be careful as the medical date is your starting timer for your visa and the time you must be in the US. Normal time is 6 months validity from your medical. If you interview too late after the medical the Embassy may require you to repeat the medical and pay for it a second time.

Doing the medical before your NOA2, if even allowed, is not advisable. At this point you have no control over the length of the process.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

 

K1 process

9/24/15: I129f sent
