INTERVIEW:

Our interview was at the Boston field office. The interview was scheduled at 8:00 am and we got there 30 min before. First they called my husband (Petitioner) and I was told to wait. My husband was with the IO for about 20 min before I was allowed to go in the office.

So, the IO put me under oath and asked for my passport. Then he started asking me questions and writing notes on our application:

- What is your married/maiden name?

- Is this your phone number?

- I this your signature? (He showed me my signature on one of the forms)

- How did you meet your husband?

- What can you tell me about your husband's family? Any siblings?

- How many people attended your wedding?

- Do you work?

- Tell me about your parents? Where do they live?

- Do you have any children? Does your husband have any children?

- Have you been married before?

- What is your address?

Then he asked me some questions about the date of my last entry. It seems like a lot of questions but, it is basic stuff that if your marriage is real you should know. The IO was serious, but nice and fair. He actually congratulated me and thank me for how organized and complete was our application. He even mentioned that it was the first time he got an application so easy to read and evaluate.

And finally he told us that we were approved and took my work authorization. The IO told me that I should expect the card in one or two weeks. And that's it :)

Note: I was adjusting from F1. We have been married for 2 years, so I got permanent residence.

Congratulations! Thanks for this, just about to get started so a great primer for me, appreciate it.

Were the affidavits notarized? Are interviews 100% English only?

Please note for those adjusting from a K-1, you may not even have an interview. If you do, the questioning is typically minimal. Those adjusting from another visa type, such as the OP, will definitely have an interview and might have more relationship questions asked of them, since they had no prior interview vetting their relationship beforehand like you did for the K-1.

We submitted 4 affidavits, only one was notarized. The interview is in english, but fillers are allowed to bring a translator/interpreter.

I looked at your timeline and your process appears to have gone very quickly! We also live in the Boston area,so here's to hoping we have the same experience. If you don't mind me asking, which visa are your adjusting status from? My husband is adjusting from an F-1 student visa.

I wrote a full detailed account of our AOS process, timeline, AP use, and interview on my blog. You can read it here.

Hi,

I adjusted from F1 as well. We filed on April 22 and had the interview last November 5th. When did you file for AOS?

Hello Guys, I sent my I-130 concurrent filing with I-485 etc. on Oct. 23, got email /text notification on Nov. 3, it mentioned that they have mailed the hard copy notification? Until now, Nov. 18 I have not receive it yet from the mail. Is this timeline still ok? Should I be concerned? Thank you for your reply.
