I know each country has different requirements for the medical exam, but I am wondering in general....does exam include drug testing for THC? My fiance has been known to smoke pot so need to know if he needs to knock that off before the medical exam. Thanks.

Even if they didn't I would probably recommend quitting the habit. He'll be coming to a country where if he is caught smoking mj it could mean denial of his AOS or maybe deportation... just my opinion.

Drug testing is optional for the medical exam. It's basically up to the examining doctor whether it'll be done or not if there's no history of drug abuse, but it's requred if there is history.

To be on the safe side, I'd advise him to lay off just in case.

yes weed is sooo not worth waisting this process over. all those months spend apart and screwing it up because of weed and having to go a lot longer of being apart. That would just plain suck

Have him stop asap, I am not sure about your country but where my fiance is from in Jamaica they definatly drug test, I know of 3 mambers on this site that got denied a visa because the drug test came back positive for weed and got a 3 year ban. I wouldnt chance it!!

Yes I know what everyone is thinking...JAMAICA??? but yes it is illegal and they do test for it and are strict about it.

Hope this helps

"knock that off before the medical"? geez, i would think twice about messing up my chances to be with my beloved. the US doesn't look to favourably to weed use....i.e. IT'S ILLEGAL here. if they do test for drug use, it will almost certainly show up....good luck... :)

THC takes between 14-30 days to dissapate from your bloodstream.

So, if I was him, I'd lay off at least a month before, and drink water regularly the week prior to the exam just for peace of mind.

Better safe than sorry!

I would do some water and mostly beer. I am partial to Imperial. Pura Vida

Agree with everything said above - but somethign acidic as well as water I've heard can "clean out" the system - try LOTS fo cranberry juice for example (as opposed to Lemon juice...eeeekgg...*makes lemony face*)

Also tell him "hey honey - you know when you quit weed, your energy levels and general outlook on life go up SO much, you probably won't want to do it again anyway" :) 'Tis true, that, if he does smoke regularly. :)
