Evidence from ROC or the whole marriage?

It is time to prepare or package for Joan's N-400. We are filing under the 3-year rule:

If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen, send the following four items:

1. Evidence that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last three years: Birth certificate (if your spouse never lost citizenship since birth), or Naturalization certificate, or Certificate of Citizenship, or The inside of the front cover and signature page of your spouse's current U.S. passport, or Form FS-240, 'Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America', and
2. Your current marriage certificate; and

3. Proof of termination of all prior marriages of your spouse-divorce decree(s), annulment(s), or death certificate(s); and

4. Documents referring to you and your spouse:
Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or

An IRS tax return transcript for the last three years.

We have always front-loaded every application so far with no problem, so we are going to interpret the "OR" as "AND" whenever possible. USCIS already has a huge file on us. Do we send the marriage information spanning the whole 3-years (like ROC again) or just from year 3 (after ROC)?

I would submit the last 3 years not just the year after the ROC. Like you said, if you are choosing 4a, it's like the ROC all over again.

Yeah, you are right....and again....I thought you'd say that! Good thing we have a complete copy of what we submitted for the ROC---I guess we will just add some things to bring it up to date! This WILL be over soon, right? (Don't answer that!) Salamat Cheezees!

Yes, I want to too. The May N-400 filers are a mess. USCIS transitioned to the new electronis system that is supposed to be more efficient. Only, they have stalled all of our applications to take care of all of those under the "old" paper only system. So people who filed after me but with the paper only system already had their interviews and I'm stuck kicking myself. Such is life.....I mean USCIS!

...so there is a new electronic system out there for filing the N-400?

Hi,

It seems that with the newest version of the N-400 (and the G-1145 form), we could not only receive texts/emails of our case updates, but also track or cases online. I can sign in and see the documents I have sent with my application (so I know exactly what was sent and what was received). We can also print out the notices that they mail to our homes in case we lose them. So I was able to print out a copy of my biometrics notice before it even arrived in the mail. I thought it was fantastic! But then all our cases (which start with "IOE...") have stalled.

The paper-only applications via the old version of the form (by paper only I mean you cannot actually view the document online and your case number starts with "NBC..." so you wait for it in the mail) who sent in their applications after the ones with the newer form are being processed first. I had a student over the summer who applied after me with the older form since it had not yet expired. She received her biometrics notice and within a week received her "in-line" notice as well as her "interview scheduled" notice. She already interviewed on August 10 and is wondering why I'm still stuck in the biometrics phase.

OK thanks for clarifying. I think this part of the process depends a lot on the speed of your local field office too.

The waiting game definitely stinks. I hope your wait ends on a positive note soon.
