Hi,

I am going to send the AOS packet and application this coming Monday 6/29/15. The form I-485 form expires on 6/30/15. I think that te packet won't actually get to US Homeland Security lockbox until July 1st,2015. I am concerned that the form will not be accepted since it was sent and accepted after the expiration date of the form. Are they strict about this? Should I take the chance.

I really want to get this all over in one shot - the process has been so long and my husband is eager to get the process started for his green card. We are at a standstill - please advise!

Thanks so much, I love this website and the fact that we are all helping one another!

As long as you download from uscis you are good, that expiration is not a problem. USCIS always accepts forms backwards before they completely stops accepting a certain version

Not a problem. That date concerns the policies of Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB). https://law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/47/0.408

Take a look at this link, they accept quite a few older editions of Form I-485 also: http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

The OMB(Office of Management and Budget) expiration date only matters internally for the USCIS. That expiration date has nothing to do with whether or not it will be acceptable for you to use. The edition date is what matters. It can be found on the bottom left of the form pages. The accepted edition dates for the forms are listed on the site where the forms can be found and downloaded.

The I-485 states this. >http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

Edition Date

06/20/13; (01/18/11, 11/23/10, 11/08/10; 7/15/10; 12/03/09 editions also accepted.)
