Petition Expired K1 visa

okay I'm brand new at this *waves* I got my letter from the London Embassy this morning, dated 28th April, getting the ball rolling on the UK side of my K1 visa application. The I-129F was approved 30th March but on the letter I got today it said my priority date was 04 Dec 2014, and the petition is only valid for four months from that date (which means it was practically expired before it was approved, and almost a month expired before they even contacted me -- gotta love bureaucracy!). I know the petition can be revalidated with a statement of intent from my fiancee, but as I've not even booked the medical yet, do I need to call anyone about this, or do I just go through the process and take the signed SoI to the interview?

You're not the first on here to report an erroneous priority date recently. Do you have (or your fiance if you are not the USC) the NVC letter? What does it say on your NOA2 and the NVC letter? I think you should contact the embassy through their contact form on the website and just point out that this is clearly an error, but asking for reassurance that they are not treating the petition as expired. London automatically renews it at least once, to my knowledge anyway, but it would be nicer to know that you have something from them.

I don't think she's even got the NVC letter yet, just the email saying it had been approved and was being passed to them. That was about the time the application was approved by USCIS. This whole process has been plagued by missing paperwork and wrong dates, so I'm mostly resigned to it at this point :) I'll contact the embassy and point out the error.

You have confused priority date with petition approval date. The K1 is valid for 4 months after approval not priority date ( the receipt of filing date )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

The letter I got from the embassy this morning clearly states: "The K1/3/4 petition is valid for four months from the priority date (listed at the bottom of this letter)" and at the bottom of the letter it says "Priority Date: 04 Dec 2014." That means when the letter was sent on 28 April 2015, it was already expired, doesn't it? So did the embassy mix up priority and approval dates? The approval was definitely March 30th.

It's a mistake on the letter. Did you send the petition or get NOA1 around Dec 4? (Make a timeline. It helps.) Your petition is valid four months after approval. It has a date on you NOA2. The priority date on your London letter should say March 30. If you don't interview within four months of March 30, then take a new letter from the petitioner. They often don't bother to ask for them, even if you go past four months so it is not a huge thing they will try to catch you out on. I would ignore it as a mistake by somebody new on the letter sending desk.

I did a timeline, sort of, heh. Like I said above, we've had more letters get "lost in the post" and crossed wires than I know what to do with.

We sent the petition around the end of November, so Dec 4th is right for the date it was received. NOA2 was 30th March, and I'm hoping to be done with the interview before the end of July because the plan is to move Stateside in October if possible. I've asked my fiancee to send me a statement of intent anyway, to cover the bases. I was just worried I'd try and book an interview and they'd be all "oh, we closed that file months ago!"

They won't close the file. They send letters again after about six months of not hearing from you asking if you are still wanting a visa. Get on with doing the DS-160 and they will know you have not abandoned the visa plan. FYI-- you don't get to book the interview. They assign it when you complete the steps in the instructions.

Your timeline is good. Gives an idea of when you filed and when you got NOA 1 and 2.
