Walkthrough of how to pull your Facebook Chat Logs

Hi Guys,

I still see this topic get asked from time to time on how to pull Facebook chat logs. Some people I see are taking screen shots of their page and chats.

There is a much cleaner way and that is on your Facebook go to

Settings --> General Account Settings and at the bottom you will see "Download a copy of your Facebook data"

Facebook will consolidate all your activity pictures, posts and even chat logs into a "clean version"

It takes a time for Facebook to prepare you activity summary.

Great tip, thank you for posting. I'd also like to add that it is very easy to find youtube tutorials describing how to do this on both the "Viber" and "Whatsapp" apps for people who want history from them also.

just a heads-up.. it will condence EVERYTHING.. as in ALL your chat logs of every person you've talked with

i've gone thru this process myself when preparing proof of relationship and I think it went from 26,000 pages to around 2,200 pages once I cut out every other chat log in there

it's definitely a big endeavour and you'd be shocked how many chat msgs you guys have sent each other

at least for me, it was eye-opening like "wow.."

yes, 2,200 PAGES is what I had to trim down!!

I use an app called SocialSafe, which backs up and gives statistics on my social media accounts. It was very easy to download the messages and then just select some snippets to submit.
