Hello,

I filed the Removing of Conditions (Form I-751) for my wife & daughter. Their conditional CR1/CR2 Green cards are expiring on Oct 31st. According to the FedEx tracking number, the USCIS received my documents on September 17. I have not yet received the Receipt Notice. It's been 4 weeks & we have not received anything from USCIS. Can you please advice if this is normal or is it really unusal & I should have received something by now? Any one else in this situation? Please inform what to do now?

Thanks & Best Regards.

You should have received the NOA1 receipt notice by now extending their green card status for one year. Generally, if you have not received the receipt within 30 days USCIS suggest you contact them. Now, if you contact the 1-800 number (the call center) they will just say they will put in an inquiry. That won't be enough. I suggest you do what I did (I never received my notice when I removed conditions either).

Make an appointment with your local USCIS office, bring your wife and daughter with you and bring their green cards along with their valid passports. You can also bring the proof of notice of receipt of delivery. USCIS will look up the files using your wife and daughter's A numbers. Explain that they have never received the extension letter/receipt and need to have the I-551 stamp placed in their valid passports. If the passports are expired,, then you would also need to bring in 2 passport style photographs of each person, and USCIS will make up an I-94, stamp it with the I-551 stamp and then place that in each expired passport. The I-551 stamp is basically the green card stamp, and it will be good for one year.

You are not quite at 30 days but you are close enough that you can make the Infopass appointment. Try to make it for a week to 10 days prior to the green cards actually expiring. That way if the notices do come in, you can cancel the Infopass - and if they don't, then you will have no problems getting the stamps.

Has the check been cashed yet?

The first thing you need to do is make sure that your check was cashed, if it was then you can call USCIS, and give them your name etc and then they will transfer you to a different department and then they will check for your case using your name, and at that point if your case have been logged in they will give you your case number, I flied since August and I never received any NOA1 me nor my lawyer didnt but when i called after making sure the check was cashed, they looked it up and give me my case number, and I was told that NOA1 is just a receipt and its not that important as the approval notice, I still havnt got any, I hope this can help you in any little way.... Good luck.

I found out that the check has not been cashed yet. It was done through a law office. I contacted the attorney & he has started an inquiry with the Department of Homeland Security to find when the Receipt Notice will be sent out. Please advice if this sound like the right thing to do?

Thanks & Best Regards.

Thanks for all the sugegstions. I wanted to post what I know now so that others may benefit as needed.

It turned out that USCIS did not accept my application. The reason being they figured out that there was a mistake made by the officer at port of entry when my wife & daughter entered into USA. They say that the officer should have granted them a normal Permanenet Resident instead of conditional. The reason being is that at the time of admitting into the USA, we were married just one day plus 2 years. Since the law is for 2 years marriage condition, hence, they should not have been conditional. So, they are now correcting that mistake & do not require us to file the removal of condition. We now have to file a regular Green Card replacement & there status has been updated as Permanenet Residents in their system.
