Passed interview today. Lots of questions. Took about 30 minutes for the interview process but success in the end.

Topic has been moved from AOS process and procedure to AOS progress reports as a more appropriate forum for this 'update'.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

As much as I can remember the questions were very simple ones. Nothing that was trying to catch you in a lie.

Petitioner:

What is your full name?

Where were you born?

Can I see your ID?

Where do you live?

Where do you work?

Do you have your marriage certificate?

Where did you get married?

Does your family know of your marriage?

Had you ever been married before?

Did you meet her family?

Does any of your family live here in AZ?

Applicant:

What is your full name?

Where were you born?

Can I see your ID?

Do you have your passport with you?

What is your address here?

Do you work and if so where and how long?

Have you traveled outside of the US since arriving?

Where did you enter the US.

Where did you live in the Philippines?

Have you met any of his family?

Have you ever been convicted of a crime?

Have you ever sold or used illegal drugs?

General:

Do you have anything to substantiate your marriage?

(pictures, affidavits from friends, joint accounts, insurance, etc.)

There might have been other questions but I can't think of then right now. There was nothing in the questioning that you shouldn't already know if you have been living together as husband and wife.

We are glad it is over and now just under 2 years until the next step in our journey.

There was one thing that kind of threw a hitch in our giddy-up though. After we filled our AOS we started to get everything in order. Insurance with my work, bank account, state ID and we already had her SS number. We had done all of this with using her family name as her middle name and dropped her maiden middle name as is the tradition in the Philippines. We were told but the immigration officer that we could not do that and that her maiden middle name had to remain her married middle name so all of things we have done with her name change must be redone to reflect her first name, maiden middle name and married last name. I don't know why there can't be something on the AOS paperwork that advises bout this? It didn't stop the AOS from being approved but now we have to redo SSN, insurance, all her benefits paperwork, state ID, etc., etc. Kind of a PITA.
