Maya & Marc Atlanta 2021-11-14 - High Wait was long, but they only asked me when the wedding will be and where will it take place. They explained me the rules of the K1 visa and that was pretty much it. The airport is very big and if you need to get on another flight from Atlanta, make sure you have at least a 4 hour layover. 2022-02-06

Ijawchic alfreda & henry Atlanta 2021-11-01 - High My POE experience was very uneventful. I arrived at ATL, stood on the visitors queue at the CBP, when it got to my turn, I was asked what is the purpose of my trip, I said I have an Immigrant Visa, the officer smiled and said oh, you are here to live. He asked if I was given anything else, I gave him my medical envelope with my vaccination records and x-ray CD. He put my passport and the medicals in a see through envelope and sent me to another counter. They confirmed my address and told me that the visa stamp on my passport is my Greencard for 1 year until I recieve the physical card in 8 to 10 weeks. I can use it to apply for a job, travel in and out the US etc. Asked if I have any questions and I went my merry way. 2022-01-29

J & M Atlanta 2021-10-10 - High We waited 2 months after receiving the visa (a few weeks past our 2 year marriage anniversary) so that the CR-1 would be an IR-1 and we would avoid removing conditions later (we had already waited in this process for almost 2 years due to the Covid pandemic). At POE, we provided CBP with our marriage certificate showing our marriage date and they advised the visa would automatically be changed to IR-1. They crossed out CR-1 on the visa and wrote IR-1 next to it. They also wrote IR-1 on the passport stamp. CBP advised the SSN would be sent in a few weeks and the Green Card in a few months. SSN never arrived. We had to call and make an appointment at a local Social Security office to get them to start the process. Nothing was in their system for our case. Green Card arrived 3 months later as "conditional" CR-1, not IR-1. Back into the system, filed I-90 to correct it... estimated wait time was initially 10 months, then 20 months. No end in sight. Contacted our Senator for help. POE in Atlanta was smooth, CBP was nice, but the process after that was awful. DO NOT WAIT for your SSN. Contact the SSA. If you enter with an IR-1 due to timing (with a CR-1 visa) DO NOT WAIT to contact USCIS. Be your own advocate. 2023-06-15
