They were quiet sort of cold, but it was quick and no questions asked! SS card wasn't received until 6/22/19...apparently they are supposed to approve SS# at the POE, so make sure to mention that. If they had done that when we entered, my husband would have received his SS card in the mail in 2-3 weeks which is what is normal processing time. |

Wanted to me back because we planned to move to the US within a year and the office said this is way too long and I take somebody else's slot for a GC. Still having a job didn't help.
Next time the same issue, I was told to request Reentry Permit. Other officers said this wouldn't even work as we stayed only 3 weeks. Last time POE via EWR during Corona no problems and we finally came to stay. |

much better experience compared to previous entry (on B2 while K1 processing) at Dulles -- was pulled into secondary room for questioning and partner paged at baggage claim and questioned to see if our stories matched up. moderate harassment -- questioned why I was so calm (they'd also question if I seemed nervous so this is definitely unwinnable). this was the only thing they could hold onto. they kept insisting that I was really coming to work and overstay/stay permanently and asked me 5 different ways if I was going to work in the US, so felt like pretty clear case of profiling (African, Black, maybe my comfy plane sweats??) ... all I said in return was that I have been traveling for 20-some hours (arrived off of 17 hr flight) and I was tired. and that i wouldn't overstay because we were already in the K1 process and wouldn't want to jeopardize it. also i love my country. americans need to chill with their belief in exceptionalism |
