The airport staff were very nice and patient. My fiance had no trouble, the security and so on were just very slow. His plane landed at 2:35pm and he did not walk out of the terminal until after 5:30pm.
Found out later, when we applied for his SSN, that his status was not entered correctly into the SS databases, he was put into the computers as being on an F-1 visa, not a K-1. We were told that we will still get his SSN and card, it will just take a little longer, that's all. |

Was great, was over the moon to come to this point. I migration Officer wasn't overly friendly but pleasant and nice. No harassment what so ever. Asked me a question i can't remember about what but refer to Vito as my husband and i corrected him and said my fiance and i ... his reply was oh yeah sorry i meant fiance (acted embarrassed like it was a genuine accident.)reminded me of the 90 day rule and i said that's ok the wedding is the 9th of April and left for my luggage a very happy bunny. |

my husband and i stood in the same line. they took my fingerprints and made me wait in another room with a few other people for 10 min and then gave me back my I 94 and passport without asking any questions. good beginning..... |

Told the crowd control officer my fiancee was in on a k-1 and asked which line we could go in together, she pointed us to gate 36 (visitors), the lines were all short, US and visitors lines were less than 5 or less in each line, detroit is apparently not a very busy PoE or we just got lucky. The immigration officer had not done a k-1 before and almost handled it like an immigration visa (which meant going back in line after he did some stuff at the next gate, which would issue ead/green cards or whatever else is done with an immigration visa). The officer was friendly enough, I did get to see a japanese man get a bit of a grilling from another office ahead of us (he was young and might have had a small overstay previously due to a lack of funds or something, I think he got in though). |
