The airline staff at check in were a little confused as I did not have a physical green card. Luckily there seemed to be someone there who might have been working for the embassy or CBP who clarified it was fine. At the gate, my boarding pass wouldn’t scan and the airline staff had to call through to double check I did in fact go through check in.
Upon entry to JFK I thought I would be taken to a room for secondary screening but it was just a CBP Officer at the desk. He commented on how quickly it was for us to get the visa, took some fingerprints and then we were done. He stamped my passport and explained that it was valid for a year and I’m free to leave and enter with that stamp. It didn’t take any more than 10 minutes.
So that was surprisingly easy and quick. I thought it would take at least an hour. |
