Thank you, it really is so stressful. we got our lawyers involved and they managed to get me an appointment. After waiting for three months for a call back, they managed to get one within a week. I finally have my adit stamp so I’m pretty relieved.

Would that be an emergency? Wouldn't they ask why I booked one when I've lost my green card? My aunt has cancer and I'd really like to visit her but I don't want to have to ask her for her medical records to prove that. I also would really love for my son to be able to meet the rest of his family.

I called again and did that. I was connected to an agent who said I've been put in the scheduling queue so an officer will get back to me within 30 days. Last time I went through this the officer called and asked if there was an emergency. I said no and then he said they were only scheduling emergency appointments. So I don't know what to say next time they call if they're only scheduling emergency appointments.

I tried calling USCIS today and was connected to the automated system who asked me questions. They said based on all that i do not meet the criteria for scheduling. I feel so lost.

Thank you. That is frustrating since I applied for the name change with 20 months left on my GC. I am glad I did not submit another application when my GC was lost. Do I need to have an emergency for the ADIT stamp appointment? When I tried in the summer of 2021 to get an infopass appointment I was told that it was emergency only.

Just wanted to update in case it would be helpful, my father emailed the embassy 6 months later to ask them about any updates and they issued his visa the following week.

I'm hoping this is the right thread for this. CR-1 holder. January 2021, I submitted form I-90 to change the name on my GC to my married name. Biometrics done June 2021. February 2022, I lost my GC. I read that I have to carry it with me at all times and I lost the card holder with my cards in it. April 2023, I still haven't had an update about my GC so we contacted our senator. Today, we received notice that my application was denied. I've attached the letter here. Can someone explain better what their reason is? It seems tied up to my ROC application made in August 2022 but I was only applying for a name change. Should I have submitted another I90 form when I lost my GC? It didn't make sense to me to pay $500 for another application when I already had one processing and at the time I was hoping that the updated GC would be back with me. I just really want to go and visit my family as I have not seen them since the end of 2020. TIA.

Thank you very much for the help and guidance. We have a lawyer who just helped us to submit our ROC application so we could ask them to help us with this. I did receive my extension letter. However, I applied for a replacement to correct my name in Jan 2021 but then lost my actual GC in Jan 2022. So I don't currently have a physical GC to go with the extension letter, which is what is stressing me out. My husband has also told me that he know our senator so that makes me a little hopeful as well. There seems to be a few avenues open for inquiry so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. I believe I have one more year to go before I can apply for citizenship. I just tried submitting another inquiry request and was able to today. Oh it is definitely happening. I felt so hopeless when he flat out told me I couldn't get an I-551 stamp. He said that it isn't reserved for emergencies only but just that the NYC office is only accepting emergency appointments. I ended up with a high risk pregnancy and couldn't travel anyway but I really hope to be able to next spring.

For years? Why is that? It’s already been almost two years. The USCIS website says 15 months. Yes I would like to travel, there is no way I can not travel for years. When I tried infopass earlier this year they said it’s only for emergency in NY

Unsure where to put this. I submitted an application to replace my Green Card due to a name error. Receipt date was January 12 2021. According to USCIS, as of September 13 I can submit an inquiry. However, when trying to do so it says my application is still within the posted processing time. Do I wait until tomorrow?

Ahh, ok, I understand what you meant. We are Malaysian and none of those were committed by Malaysians so hopefully it will be okay. It will be upsetting if he doesn't get approved because he won't be able to spend as much time with me/my husband/his grandson but it won't be the end of the world. That's what I keep telling myself anyway. It just would be nice for my parents to be able to stay with me for a few weeks a year but that might be asking for too much.
